Claims
- 1. A process for recovering minerals comprising:
- (a) mixing solids containing said minerals, water, and a dithiocarbamate having the formula ##STR6## wherein R and R' can be the same or different and are each selected from the group consisting of alkylene radicals each having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and wherein M is selected from the group consisting of alkali metal atoms and ammonium, to establish a pulp;
- (b) aerating said thus established pulp to produce a froth containing minerals while allowing gangue materials to be depressed in said pulp; and
- (c) recovering said minerals from said thus produced froth.
- 2. A process in accordance with claim 1 wherein R and R' are the same.
- 3. A process in accordance with claim 1 wherein M is sodium.
- 4. A process for recovering minerals comprising:
- (a) reacting an alkali metal hydroxide or ammonium hydroxide with an imino dialkanoic acid and CS.sub.2 to form a composition having the formula ##STR7## wherein R and R' can be the same or different and are each selected from the group consisting of alkylene radicals each having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and wherein M is selected from the group consisting of alkali metal atoms and ammonium, and recovering the composition as the product of the process;
- (b) mixing crushed ore containing said minerals, water, and said composition to establish a pulp;
- (c) aerating said thus established pulp to produce a froth containing minerals while allowing gangue materials to be depressed in said pulp; and
- (d) recovering minerals from said thus produced froth.
- 5. A process in accordance with claim 4 further comprising:
- (e) recovering said thus depressed gangue materials from said pulp.
- 6. A process in accordance with claim 1 further comprising:
- (d) recovering said thus depressed gangue materials from said pulp.
- 7. A process in accordance with claim 6 wherein said gangue materials comprise minerals based on copper, nickel, iron, lead and zinc.
- 8. A process for recovering minerals comprising molybdenum, comprising the steps of:
- (a) mixing solids containing minerals comprising molybdenum with water and a dithiocarbamate having the formula ##STR8## wherein R and R' can be the same or different and are each selected from the group consisting of alkylene radicals each having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and wherein M is selected from the group consisting of alkali metal atoms and ammonium, to establish a pulp;
- (b) aerating said thus established pulp to produce a froth containing minerals comprising molybdenum while allowing gangue materials to be depressed in said pulp; and
- (c) recovering said minerals comprising molybdenum from said thus produced froth.
- 9. A process in accordance with claim 8 further comprising:
- (d) recovering said thus depressed gangue materials from said pulp.
- 10. A process in accordance with claim 9 wherein said gangue materials comprise minerals based on copper, nickel, iron, lead and zinc.
