Claims
- 1. A solution composition comprising components (1), (2), (3) and (4) wherein: component (1) comprises a siloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymer having the average composition, ##STR47## wherein: R is alkyl having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, R.degree. is bivalent alkylene of from 2 to 12 carbon atoms, E is an organic-capped polyoxyalkylene block, at least 75 weight percent of the polyoxyalkylene content of the copolymers being constituted of oxyethylene, q is zero or one, x is zero or a positive number having an average value up to about 20, y has an average value from about 2 to about 20, and z has an average value from about 2 to about 30, provided the average weight of said copolymers attributable to said polyoxyalkylene blocks is from about 50 to about 85 weight percent; component (2) is a water soluble organic acidic component present in said solution in an amount from about 5 to about 90 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said block copolymer; component (3) is a water soluble, silicon-free organic surfactant; and component (4) is a water soluble glycol; the combined total weight of components (3) and (4) present in said solution ranging from about 5 to about 90 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said block copolymer.
- 2. A solution composition as defined in claim 1 in which said component (2) is tall oil.
- 3. A solution composition as defined in claim 1 in which said component (3) is a water soluble non ionic surfactant.
- 4. A solution composition as defined in claim 1 in which said component (3) is a water soluble anionic surfactant.
- 5. A solution composition as defined in claim 1 in which said component (4) is hexylene glycol.
- 6. A solution composition comprising components (1), (2), (3) and (4) wherein: component (1) comprises a siloxane-polyoxyethylene block copolymer having the average composition, ##STR48## wherein: Me is methyl; G comprises a monovalent hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms; b has an average value from about 4 to about 15; p is zero or one; e has a value from 2 to 4; q is zero or one; x has an average value from about 1 to about 10, y has an average value from about 2 to about 10, and z has an average value from about 2 to about 15, provided the ratio x+y:z is no higher than about 4:1 and said --(C.sub.e H.sub.2e).sub.p (OC.sub.2 H.sub.4).sub.b OG blocks constitute on the average from about 50 to about 85 weight percent of the copolymers; component (2) is an organic acidic component consisting essentially of at least one member of the group consisting of aliphatic and cycloaliphatic carboxylic acids having from 15 to 20 carbon atoms and is present in said solution in an amount from about 5 to about 90 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said block copolymer; component (3) is a water-soluble, non-ionic organic surfactant wherein the hydrophilic portion is composed essentially of oxyethylene units and the hydrophobic portion is derived from a hydrophobe selected from at least one of the group consisting of alcohols having from 10 to 18 carbon atoms and alkyl-substituted phenols in which the alkyl substituent has from 6 to 15 carbon atoms; and component (4) is a water soluble glycol; the combined total weight of components (3) and (4) present in said solution ranging from about 5 to about 90 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said block copolymer.
- 7. A solution composition comprising components (1), (2), (3) and (4) wherein: component (1) comprises a siloxane-polyoxyethylene block copolymer having the average composition, ##STR49## wherein: Me is methyl; G comprises a monovalent hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms; b has an average value from about 4 to about 15; p is zero or one; x has an average value from about 1 to about 10, y has an average value from about 2 to about 10, and z has an average value from about 2 to about 15, provided the ratio x+y:z is no higher than about 4:1 and said --(C.sub.e H.sub.2e).sub.p (OC.sub.2 H.sub.4).sub.b OG blocks constitute on the average from about 50 to about 85 weight percent of the copolymers; component (2) is an organic acidic component consisting essentially of at least one member of the group consisting of aliphatic and cycloaliphatic carboxylic acids having from 15 to 20 carbon atoms and is present in said solution in an amount from about 5 to about 90 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said block copolymer; component (3) is a water soluble, anionic organic surfactant wherein the hydrophilic portion is a sulfonic acid group or ammonium, quaternary ammonium, alkali metal or alkaline earth metal derivatives thereof; and component (4) is a water soluble glycol; the combined total weight of components (3) and (4) present in said solution ranging from about 5 to about 90 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said block copolymer.
- 8. A process for producing flexible polyurethane foams which comprises simultaneously reacting and foaming a reaction mixture containing: (a) a polyester polyol reactant containing an average of at least two hydroxyl groups per molecule; (b) a polyisocyanate reactant containing at least two isocyanato groups per molecule; (c) a blowing agent; (d) a catalyst comprising an amine; and (e) a foam stabilizer comprising polysiloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymers having the average composition, ##STR50## wherein: R is alkyl having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, R.degree. is bivalent alkylene of from 2 to 12 carbon atoms, E is an organic-capped polyoxyalkylene block, at least 75 weight percent of the polyoxyalkylene content of the copolymers being constituted of oxyethylene, q is zero or one, x is zero or a positive number having an average value up to about 20, y has an average value from about 2 to about 20 and z has an average value from about 2 to about 30, provided the average weight of said copolymers attributable to said polyoxyalkylene blocks is from about 50 to about 85 weight percent.
- 9. A process as defined in claim 8 in which said reaction mixture contains an organic flame-retardant as an additional component thereof.
- 10. A flame-retarded flexible polyurethane foam produced by the process of claim 9.
- 11. A flame-retarded polyester-based urethane foam which comprises the product formed by simultaneously reacting and foaming a reaction mixture containing: (a) a polyester polyol reactant containing an average of at least two hydroxyl groups per molecule; (b) an organic polyisocyanate reactant containing at least two isocyanato groups per molecule; (c) water as a source of blowing action; (d) a catalyst comprising a tertiary amine; (e) a flame-retarding agent; and (f) a foam stabilizer comprising siloxane-polyoxyethylene copolymers having the average composition, ##STR51## wherein: R is lower alkyl; R.degree. is bivalent alkylene of 2 to 6 carbon atoms; R' comprises a bivalent alkylene group of from 2 to 6 carbon atoms a carbon atom of which is bonded to silicon; G is an organic capping group; q is zero or one; p is zero or one; b has an average value from about 3 to about 30; x is a positive number having an average value up to about 20, y has an average value from about 2 to about 20, and z has an average value from about 2 to about 30, provided an average of from about 50 to about 85 weight percent of said copolymers is constituted of said --(R').sub.p (OC.sub.2 H.sub.4).sub.b OG blocks and the average value of the ratio x+y:z is from about 0.5:1 to about 4:1.
- 12. A flame-retarded polyester-based urethane foam which comprises the product formed by simultaneously reacting and foaming a reaction mixture containing: (a) a polyester polyol reactant containing an average of at least two hydroxyl groups per molecule; (b) an organic polyisocyanate reactant containing at least two isocyanato groups per molecule; (c) water as a source of blowing action; (d) a catalyst comprising a tertiary amine; (d) a flame-retarding agent; and (f) a foam stabilizer comprising siloxane-polyoxyethylene copolymers having the average composition, ##STR52## wherein: Me is methyl; R.degree..degree. is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms; b has an average value from about 4 to about 15; x has an average value from about 1 to about 10, y has an average value from about 2 to about 10, and z has an average value from about 2 to about 15, provided the average weight of said copolymers attributable to --C.sub.3 H.sub.6 (OC.sub.2 H.sub.4).sub.b OR.degree..degree. is from about 50 to about 85 weight percent.
- 13. A flame-retarded polyester-based urethane foam as defined in claim 12 in which R.degree..degree. of the polyoxyethylene blocks of said copolymer is methyl.
- 14. A flame-retarded polyester-based urethane foam as defined in claim 12 in which R.degree..degree. of the polyoxyethylene blocks of said copolymer is benzyl.
