Claims
- 1. A high molecular weight linear non-hydrolyzable siloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymer having the average formula
- (--Y(R.sub.2 SiO).sub.a R.sub.2 SiYO[C.sub.n H.sub.2n O).sub.y --).sub.d
- wherein R represents a monovalent hydrocarbon radical free from aliphatic unsaturation; n is an integer of from 2 to 4 inclusive; a is an integer of at least 6; y is an integer of at least 4; d is an integer of at least 4; Y represents a divalent organic group selected from the class consisting of --R'--, --R'CO-- --R'NHCO--, --R'--NHCONH--R"--NHCO-- and --R'--OOCNH--R"--NHCO-- wherein R' is a divalent alkylene radical and R" is R' or a divalent arylene group; wherein the average molecular weight of each siloxane block ranges from about 500 to about 10,000; wherein the average molecular weight of each polyoxyalkylene block ranges from about 300 to about 10,000; wherein the siloxane blocks constitute about 20 to about 50 weight percent of the copolymer; wherein the polyoxyalkylene blocks constitute about 80 to about 50 weight percent of the copolymer; and wherein the block copolymer has an average molecular weight of at least about 30,000.
- 2. A non-hydrolyzable siloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymer as defined in claim 1, wherein R is a lower alkyl radical; wherein (C.sub.n H.sub.2n O) represents a mixture consisting of about 30 to about 75 weight per cent of oxyethylene groups and about 70 to about 25 weight per cent of oxypropylene groups; wherein Y represents a divalent alkylene group; and wherein the average molecular weight of each siloxane block constitutes about 25 to about 50 weight per cent of the copolymer and the average molecular weight of the polyoxyalkylene block constitutes about 75 to about 50 weight per cent of the copolymer.
- 3. A non-hydrolyzable siloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymer as defined in claim 2, wherein R is methyl.
- 4. A non-hydrolyzable siloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymer as defined in claim 2, wherein Y is a --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- radica.
- 5. A non-hydrolyzable siloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymer as defined in claim 2, wherein the average molecular weight of each siloxane block ranges from about 30 to about 45 and the average molecular weight of each polyoxyalkylene block ranges from about 70 to about 55.
- 6. A non-hydrolyzable siloxane block copolymer as defined in claim 5, wherein R is methyl and Y is a --CH.sub.2 CH2CH.sub.2 -- radical.
- 7. A non-hydrolyzable siloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymer as defined in claim 6, wherein the average molecular weight of each siloxane block ranges from about 500 to about 5000 and the average molecular weight of each polyoxyalkylene block ranges from about 1000 to about 5000.
- 8. A non-hydrolyzable siloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymer as defined in claim 6, wherein the average molecular weight of each siloxane ranges from about 1000 to about 3,500 and wherein the average molecular weight of each polyoxyalkylene block ranges from about 2000 to about 3,500.
- 9. A non-hydrolyzable siloxane polyoxyalkylene block copolymer as defined in claim 8, wherein (C.sub.n H.sub.2n O) represents a mixture consisting of about 50 weight per cent oxyethylene groups and about 50 weight per cent of oxypropylene groups.
- 10. A non-hydrolyzable siloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymer as defined in claim 8, wherein the block copolymer has an average molecular weight ranging from about 30,000 to about 60,000.
