Claims
- 1. A method of producing an ornament having a plurality of conical elements, said method comprising the steps of:
- A--forming a planar blank of flexible material, said blank having a central part and a plurality of leaves projecting from said central part, each leaf having a central portion and lateral portions extending from said central portion;
- B--providing a conical form having a longitudinal axis and a winder assembly defining a conical bed extending along said longitudinal axis;
- C--positioning said blank at an angle with respect to said longitudinal axis and with one of said blank leaves lying over said conical bed;
- D--pressing said central portion of said one of said leaves into said conical bed, with said lateral portions of said one of said leaves bending outward of said conical bed on either side thereof, by rectilinearly moving said conical form along said longitudinal axis toward and into said conical bed with said central portion of said one of said leaves located between said conical form and said bed;
- E--with said conical form held fixed into said conical bed, rotating said conical bed about said longitudinal axis first in one direction to apply one lateral portion of said one of said leaves over said conical form;
- F--applying an adhesive material to at least one of said two lateral portions;
- G--with said form still held fixed, rotating said conical bed in reverse direction to apply the other lateral portion of said one of said leaves in overlapping relation with said one lateral portion, whereby to form a conical element held solid by said adhesive material;
- H--removing said conical form from said conical element, and
- I--positioning other leaves of said blank over said conical bed for the formation of other conical elements by proceeding in accordance with the aforesaid steps C to H.
- 2. A method as claimed in claim 1, comprising dividing said winder assembly into a first and a second wrapping element each having a conical bed portion, said bed portions cooperating together to form said conical bed when standing contiguous to one another; rotating said first wrapping element in a direction away from said second wrapping element for wrapping said one lateral portion about said conical form and subsequently rotating said first wrapping element in reverse direction for said first wrapping element to drive said second wrapping element to wrap said other lateral portion over said one lateral portion.
- 3. A method as claimed in claim 1, comprising dividing said winder assembly into a first and a second wrapping element each having a conical bed portion, said bed portions cooperating together to form said conical bed when standing contiguous to one another; rotating said first wrapping element in a direction away from said second wrapping element for wrapping said one lateral portion about said conical form and subsequently rotating said first wrapping element in reverse direction and rotating said section wrapping element in said reverse direction for said second wrapping element to wrap said other lateral portion over said one lateral portion.
- 4. A method as claimed in claim 2, comprising applying a vacuum pressure to hold said one lateral portion of said one of said leaves against said conical form while said other lateral portion is being wrapped thereover and thereafter applying a positive pressure thereto to release said conical element from said conical form.
- 5. A method as claimed in claim 3, comprising applying a vacuum pressure to hold said one lateral portion of said one of said leaves against said conical form while said other lateral portion is being wrapped thereover and thereafter applying a positive pressure thereto to release said conical element from said conical form.
- 6. A method as claimed in claim 2, including tucking the side edge of said one lateral portion under said other lateral portion for retaining said one lateral portion in position while wrapping said other lateral portion over said one lateral portion.
- 7. A method as claimed in claim 3, including tucking the side edge of said one lateral portion under said other lateral portion for retaining said one lateral portion in position while wrapping said other lateral portion over said one lateral portion.
- 8. A method as claimed in claim 1, comprising producing a plurality of said ornaments, stacking said ornaments while disposing said conical elements in staggered arrangement, and securing said ornaments through said central parts of said blanks.
- 9. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein use is made in step (A) of circular blanks each having a number of leaves radially projecting from the central part thereof and wherein said step (A) further comprises rotating the blank being processed after each of the leaves of said blank has been formed into a conical element and processing with the remaining successive leaves to form like conical elements around the central part of said blank.
