Claims
- 1. In a dental attachment for affixing by adhesive bonding to a tooth surface and having a tooth engaging surface suitable for effecting said adhesive bonding of said attachment to a tooth surface, the improvement which comprises particulate material on said tooth engaging surface.
- 2. The dental attachment of claim 1 wherein said particulate material is joined together at its points of contact to define a porous coating on said surface having an interconnected network of pores therein.
- 3. The dental attachment of claim 1 wherein said coating has a thickness of less than about 500 microns, a porosity of about 10 to about 50% by volume and a failure value of at least 8 MPa.
- 4. The dental attachment of claim 1 or 3 wherein the particulate material has a diameter of -100 mesh.
- 5. The dental attachment of claim 4 wherein said particulate material is spherical.
- 6. The dental attachment of claim 1 wherein said tooth engaging surface is constructed of metal, said particulate material is constructed of ceramic material and said ceramic material is adhesively bonded to said metal surface.
