Claims
- 1. A method of making a shaped device comprising the steps of:
- heating a flat sheet consisting of a plastic sheet member of a thickness of 50 to 120 mils, a flexural strength of 3,000 to 14,000 psi, a flexural modulus of 0.5 .times. 10.sup.5 to 7 .times. 10.sup.5 psi and a Vicat softening point of 60.degree. C to 80.degree. C, an insulating layer having a thickness of at least 10 mils and a coefficient of heat transfer below 2 cal/sec/cm.sup.2 /.degree.C .times. 10.sup.-4 on one side of said sheet member, and a protective layer on the other side thereof to a temperature of 120.degree. F to 400.degree. F by subjecting said sheet to a source of heat at said protective layer;
- removing said source of heat;
- shaping the heated flat sheet to the contours of a contoured shaping part in contact with said insulating layer; and
- cooling the shaped sheet.
- 2. The method defined in claim 1 wherein said temperature is above about 160.degree. F.
