Abstract
An outboard motor and steering system motion stabilizer that positively locks the outboard motor and steering system in the proper position for trailering. This design effectively isolates the road-to-trailer-to-motor shock transfer that is delivered to the lower unit of the outboard by traditional transom savers that brace the outboard to the trailer. This invention is universally designed to be easy for the user to setup to fit most outboard brands and sizes with hydraulic tilt and trim systems.
Description

The present invention relates to an outboard motor and steering system motion stabilizer, for trailering of boat and motor. The device consists of the following components:

    • (2) Lengths of poly plastic pipe with pre-drilled holes
    • (2) Lengths of threaded bar (steel or plastic)
    • (4) Molded bumpers (rubber or plastic)
    • (8) Flat washers (steel or plastic)
    • (8) Lock washers (omitted if plastic bar and fasteners are used)
    • (8) Threaded nuts to fit threaded bar (steel or plastic)

The two (2) lengths of poly plastic pipe with molded bumpers installed on each end, are connected to each other with the two (2) lengths of threaded bar and fasteners, through the pre-drilled holes. After adjusting the distance between the pipes, the upper ends of the assembly are hand held in position over the outboards lower unit yoke bolt heads, and the lower ends are hand held in position against the outboards pivoting mounting bracket assembly.

The outboard is lowered with the hydraulic tilt and trim system with the invention positioned between the outboards lower unit yoke bolt heads, and outboards pivoting mounting bracket assembly until all movement is positively locked out from both the outboard pivot and the steering system, and the motor is completely isolated from the boat trailer.

Claims
