- 4. The fluid handling apparatus in accordance with claim 1, further comprising first and second baffles disposed within the housing.
- 5. The fluid handling apparatus in accordance with claim 4, wherein the first and second baffles define a tortuous path.
- 6. The fluid handling apparatus in accordance with claim 1, wherein the housing defines an exit passageway adapted to direct fluid out of the housing and away from the opening.
- 7. The fluid handling apparatus in accordance with claim 1, further comprising a gas inlet disposed in the outlet passage.
- 8. The fluid handling apparatus in accordance with claim 1, further comprising a bracket connecting the housing to one of the intake and outlet passages.
- 9. An outlet assembly for use in a fluid handling apparatus, comprising:
an intake adapted to draw fluid from a fluid source; an outlet defining a return passageway adapted to direct fluid toward the intake and an exit passageway adapted to direct fluid away from the intake.
- 10. The fluid handling apparatus in accordance with claim 9, wherein the outlet defines a tortuous path.
- 11. The fluid handling apparatus in accordance with claim 9, wherein the return passageway comprises a tortuous path.
- 12. The fluid handling apparatus in accordance with claim 11, further comprising at least one baffle disposed in the return passageway.
- 13. The fluid handling apparatus in accordance with claim 11, further comprising first and second baffles disposed in the return passageway, the first baffle angulated with respect to the second baffle.
- 14. The fluid handling apparatus in accordance with claim 11, further comprising a gas inlet disposed in the intake.
- 15. An outlet assembly for use in a fluid handling apparatus, comprising:
an intake adapted to draw fluid from a fluid source; and an outlet comprising means for directing fluid toward the intake and means for directing fluid away from the intake.
- 16. A wastewater treatment system, comprising:
a settling tank comprising a first upper portion and a first lower portion, and defining a first interior chamber; an aeration tank disposed within the first interior chamber to define a clearance between the aeration and settling tanks, the aeration tank comprising a second upper portion and a second lower portion, and defining a second interior chamber; a base disposed in the first interior chamber and below the aeration tank, the base having a length and defining a communicative passageway between the first and second interior chambers; a raw fluid inlet providing fluid communication with the second interior chamber; and a modular outlet assembly comprising a fluid surface skimmer disposed in the clearance, the skimmer defining a passageway providing fluid communication between the first and second interior chambers, and an outlet connected to the skimmer and in fluid communication with the first interior chamber, the outlet defining a return passageway adapted to direct fluid toward the skimmer and an exit passageway adapted to direct fluid away from the skimmer.
- 17. The wastewater treatment system in accordance with claim 16, wherein the return passageway comprises a tortuous path.
- 18. The wastewater treatment system in accordance with claim 16, further comprising at least on a baffle disposed within the outlet.
