Claims
- 1. An information processing apparatus, comprising:
- discrimination means for discriminating a total size of a plurality of memory areas to be set based on information entered from an external piece of equipment or an operation unit; and
- control means for variably setting the total size of the plurality of memory areas to be used in said apparatus, based on the result of discrimination by said discrimination means, and for determining a size of each of the plurality of memory areas.
- 2. An apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising input means for inputting data described in a printer language.
- 3. An apparatus according to claim 2, further comprising means for generating intermediate data from the input data and means for generating output data from the intermediate data.
- 4. An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the output data are bit map image data.
- 5. An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the plurality of memory areas comprise an object memory area for storing the intermediate data and a raster memory area for storing the output data.
- 6. An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the information is adapted to designate a memory amount value of the total size.
- 7. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said apparatus is adapted to detachably connect to an external memory means.
- 8. A memory control method for an information processing apparatus, comprising:
- a discrimination step of discriminating a total size of a plurality of memory areas to be set based on information entered from an external piece of equipment or an operation unit; and
- a control step of variably setting the total size of the plurality of memory areas to be used in the apparatus, based on the result of discrimination in said discrimination step, and for determining a size of each of the plurality of memory areas.
- 9. A memory control method according to claim 8, further comprising the step of inputting data described in a printer language.
- 10. A memory control method according to claim 9, further comprising the steps of generating intermediate data from the input data and of generating output data from the intermediate data.
- 11. A memory control method according to claim 10, wherein the output data are bit map image data.
- 12. A memory control method according to claim 10, wherein the plurality of memory areas comprise an object memory area for storing the intermediate data and a raster memory area for storing the output data.
- 13. A memory control method according to claim 11, wherein the information is adapted to designate a memory amount value of the total size.
- 14. A memory control method according to claim 8, wherein the apparatus is adapted to detachably connect to an external memory means.
- 15. A memory medium for storing a control program executed in an information processing apparatus, with the program comprising modules for:
- discriminating a total size of a plurality of memory areas to be set based on information entered from an external piece of equipment or an operation unit; and
- variably setting the total size of the plurality of memory areas to be used in the apparatus for each job to be processed, based on the result of discrimination by said discrimination module.
- 16. An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said plurality of memory areas comprise at least two areas selected from a data input buffer area, a cache table area, a polypen table area, a clip object table area, an intermediate buffer area, a band raster memory area and a dither pattern area.
- 17. An apparatus according to claim 3, further comprising means for forming an image on a sheet based on the output data.
- 18. An apparatus according to claim 17, wherein said information is adapted to designate a sheet size to be used in said apparatus.
- 19. A memory control method according to claim 10, wherein the plurality of memory areas comprise at least two areas selected from a data input buffer area, a cache table area, a polypen table area, a clip object table area, an intermediate buffer area, a band raster memory area and a dither pattern area.
- 20. A memory control method according to claim 10, further comprising the step of forming an image on a sheet based on the output data.
- 21. A memory control method according to claim 20, wherein the information is adapted to designate a sheet size to be used in the apparatus.
- 22. A memory medium according to claim 15, further comprising a module for performing the step of inputting data described in a printer language.
- 23. A memory medium according to claim 16, further comprising modules for performing the steps of generating intermediate data from the input data and of generating output data from the intermediate data.
- 24. A memory medium according to claim 17, wherein the output data are bit map image data.
- 25. A memory medium according to claim 17, wherein the plurality of memory areas comprise an object memory area for storing the intermediate data and a raster memory area for storing the output data.
- 26. A memory medium according to claim 18, wherein the information is adapted to designate a memory amount value of the total size.
- 27. A memory medium according to claim 15, wherein the apparatus is adapted to detachably connect to an external memory means.
- 28. A memory medium according to claim 17, wherein the plurality of memory areas comprise at least two areas selected from a data input buffer area, a cache table area, a polypen table area, a clip object table area, an intermediate buffer area, a band raster memory area and a dither pattern area.
- 29. A memory medium according to claim 17, further comprising a module for performing the step of forming an image on a sheet based on the output data.
- 30. A memory medium according to claim 29, wherein the information is adapted to designate a sheet size to be used in the apparatus.
