Claims
- 1. A replaceable holder containing frangible pins any one of which is adapted to hold two members of an overload coupling against relative rotation until overload, said holder comprising a housing and a plurality of elongated pins mounted side-by-side within said housing, said holder being adapted for quick release connection to the outer surface of one of the members that has spaced apart retaining rims on the outer surface thereof, lug means for detachably retaining said holder between said rims so that the forward end of said housing is normally positioned adjacent aligned recesses in said two members, said forward end of the housing comprising guide means for said pins and said guide means having corresponding openings that slideably receive said pins, spring means in said housing urging at least one of said pins through a respective opening of the housing towards said recesses.
- 2. A holder as claimed in claim 1, in which each pin is held in a respective guide sleeve and a compression spring bears on the rear end of said pin, said spring being supported by the rear side of said holder, opposite said openings.
- 3. A holder as claimed in claim 1, wherein said pins are held in spring loaded positions by a draw pin that extends transversely through said holder with respect to the longitudinal axes of the pins.
- 4. A holder as claimed in claim 1, in which the outer surface of the side of said pin has a longitudinal groove and each pin is housed in a respective guide sleeve of said guide means, said guide sleeve having a correspondingly shaped part on the inner wall thereof that fits into said groove.
- 5. A holder as claimed in claim 1, wherein the forward end of said one pin is slideably held in a guide sleeve of said guide means and an elongated compression spring urges the opposite, rear end of said pin through said sleeve.
- 6. A holder as claimed in claim 5, in which said compression spring bears directly on the rear end of said pin and the diameter of a spring part contacts the pin, said part having the same diameter as said pin.
- 7. A holder as claimed in claim 5 in which said spring is part of an assembly that is slideably housed within the holder and said compression spring is fitted between a plunger and a closing cap of said assembly, said plunger bearing on said rear end of the pin.
- 8. A holder as claimed in claim 5, wherein said housing is arcuate in configuration and the rear end of the housing includes a retaining lug that extends rearwardly.
- 9. A replaceable holder for frangible pins comprising a housing and a plurality of elongated pins mounted side-by-side within said housing, said holder being adapted for quick release connection to an overload coupling and means for detachably retaining said holder on an outer surface of the coupling with a forward end of said housing positioned adjacent said coupling, said forward end of the housing comprising guide means for said pins and said guide means having at least one opening, spring means in said housing urging at least one of said pins towards said forward end and through said opening, said housing being arcuate in configuration and the rear end of the housing including a retaining lug that extends rearwardly.
