Claims
- 1. A product bearing print ink indicia protected by an overprint aqueous varnish having formulation enhancing additive comprising a mixture of
- a. A finely divided mostly linear aliphatic hydrocarbon and/or modified hydrocarbon having a molecular weight of about 300-3,000; and
- b. a compound represented by the formula: ##STR3## wherein R and R.sub.1 are independently hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyls; R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl, x is about 8 to about 75; and n is about 2 to about 65.
- 2. The product of claim 1 wherien x is about 19 to about 44.
- 3. The product of claim 1 wherein n is about 4 to about 50.
- 4. The product of claim 2 wherein n is about 4 to about 50.
- 5. The product of claim 1 wherein the hydrocarbon is a mixture of unoxidized polyethylene and oxidized polyethylene.
- 6. The product of claim 5 wherein the oxidized polyethylene mixture comprises about 55-95% by weight of the polyethylene mixture.
- 7. A method of coating a product comprising the steps of forming an aqueous mixture of
- a. a finely divided mostly linear aliphatic hydrocarbon and/or modified hydrocarbon having a molecular weight of about 300-3,000; and
- b. a compound represented by the formula: ##STR4## wherein R and R.sub.1 are independently hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyls; R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl, x is about 8 to about 75; and n is about 2 to about 65; adding the thus-formed aqueous mixture to an overprint aqueous varnish; mixing the aqueous mixture and varnish; and applying the resulting mixture to a product bearing printing ink indicia.
- 8. The method of claim 7 wherein x is about 19 to about 44.
- 9. The method of claim 7 wherein n is about 4 to about 50.
- 10. The method of claim 8 wherein n is about 4 to about 50.
- 11. The method of claim 7 wherein the hydrocarbon is a mixture of unoxidized polyethylene and oxidized polyethylene.
- 12. The method of claim 8 wherein the oxidized polyethylene mixture comprises about 55-95% by weight of the polyethylene mixture.
- 13. An aqueous varnish having incorporated therein a formulation enhancing additive comprising a mixture of
- a. a finely divided mostly linear aliphatic hydrocarbon and/or modified hydrocarbon having a molecular weight of about 300-3,000; and
- b. a compound represented by the formula: ##STR5## wherein R and R.sub.1 are independently hydrogen or C.sub.1 -Ch.sub.10 alkyls; R.sub.2 is hydrogen or methyl, x is about 8 to about 75; and n is about 2 to about 65.
- 14. The varnish of claim 13 wherein x is about 19 to about 44.
- 15. The varnish of claim 13 wherein n is about 4 to about 50.
- 16. The varnish of claim 14 wherein n is about 4 to about 50.
- 17. The varnish of claim 13 wherein the hydrocarbon is a mixture of unoxidized polyethylene and oxidized polyethylene.
- 18. The varnish of claim 17 wherein the oxidized polyethylene mixture comprises about 55-95% by weight of the polyethylene mixture.
