Claims
- 1. An oxamic acid compound for use in improvement or amelioration of the damaged cerebral functions of the brain of a mammalian animal having the general formula (I): ##STR7## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are same or different from each other and are individually linear or branched alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R.sub.3 is a hydrogen atom or a linear or branched alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and n is an integer of 2 to 4, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof.
- 2. A pharmaceutical composition for use in improvement or amelioration of the damaged cerebral functions of the brain of a mammalian animal, which comprises an oxamic acid compound having the general formula (I): ##STR8## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are same or different from each other and individually a linear or branched alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R.sub.3 is a hydrogen atom or a linear or branched alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and n is an integer of 2 to 4, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient, in association with a pharmaceutically acceptable solid or liquid carrier for the active ingredient.
- 3. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 2 which is used as a cerebral protective agent, especially for protection against anoxic brain damages in a mammalian animal or for improvement or amelioration of the damaged cerebral functions of the brain in a mammalian animal as induced due to low oxygen supply.
