Claims
- 1. Process for the production of doped polymers which comprises reacting polymers consisting essentially of repeating units of 5-atom aromatic rings containing a nitrogen, sulfur or oxygen hetero-atom at -20.degree. C. to 80.degree. C. with a nitronium or nitrosonium salt selected from the group consisting of NO.sup..sym. BF.sub.4.sup..crclbar., NO.sub.2.sup..sym. BF.sub.4.sup..crclbar., NO.sup..sym. PF.sub.6.sup..crclbar., NO.sub.2.sup..sym. PF.sub.6.sup..crclbar., NO.sup..sym. SbF.sub.6.sup..crclbar. or NO.sup..sym. AsF.sub.6.sup..crclbar., NO.sub.2.sup..sym. AsF.sub.6.sup..crclbar., NO.sub.2.sup..sym. SbF.sub.6.sup..crclbar., NO.sup..sym. ClO.sub.4.sup..crclbar. and NO.sub.2.sup..sym. ClO.sub.4.sup..crclbar..
- 2. Process according to claim 1 wherein the reaction is in the presence of an inert organic solvent.
- 3. Process according to claim 1 wherein the amount of nitronium or nitrosonium salt is from 10 to 100% by weight of the polymer.
- 4. Process according to claim 1 wherein the polymer reacted consists essentially of repeating thiophendiyl moieties.
