Claims
- 1. A process for the separation of gaseous oxygen from a multi-component gas stream which comprises contacting said multi-component gas stream with a metal chelate of a Schiff base bonded to a porous polymer containing a nitrogen functionality.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the metal chelate is of the general formula: ##STR5## wherein R, R.sub.1, and R.sub.2 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogens, lower alkyl containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and perfluoro moieties containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
- 3. The process of claim 2 wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen.
- 4. The process of claim 3 wherein R is t-butyl, and R.sub.2 is iso-butyl.
- 5. The process of claim 1 which further comprises eluting oxygen from said bonded metal chelate of a Schiff base.
- 6. The process of claim 1 wherein the metal chelate is of the general formula: ##STR6## wherein R, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, lower alkyl containing from 1 to 10 carbon atom, and polyfluoromoieties containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms bonded to a porous synthetic organic polymer containing a nitrogen functionality.
- 7. A process of claim 6 wherein R is selected from the group consisting of iron, copper, cobalt, manganese, nickel, zinc, palladium, platinum, and vanadium.
- 8. The process of claim 7 wherein M is cobalt.
- 9. The process of claim 7 wherein the polymer comprises vinylpyridine monomer.
- 10. The process of claim 9 wherein the polymer further comprises diethylbenzene and ethylvinylbenzene monomers.
