The disclosure and prior art relates to garments and more particularly pertains to a new garment for cushioning knees of a user during activities.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising pants and a plurality of pads. The pants are configured to position on and couple to a user. Each of a pair of panels is coupled to a front of a respective leg of the pants to define a pocket. The panels are dimensioned such that each pocket is sized to accommodate at least one pad. Each of a pair of apertures is positioned in a respective panel. The panels are configured to position over knees of the user. The apertures are positioned in the panels so that each pocket is positioned to selectively insert the at least one pad. The at least one pad is configured to cushion a respective knee of the user when the knee contacts a surface during an activity, such as exercising, cleaning and gardening.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
In one embodiment, the pads 14 are substantially circularly shaped. In another embodiment, the pads 14 are substantially kite shaped. In yet another embodiment, the pads 14 are substantially rectangularly shaped. In still yet another embodiment, the pads 14 are substantially heart shaped. In still yet another embodiment, the plurality of pads 14 comprises from two to six pads 14. In still yet another embodiment, the pads 14 comprises a thermoplastic elastomer 16.
Each of a pair of panels 18 is coupled to a front 20 of a respective leg 22 of the pants 12 to define a pocket 24. The panels 18 are dimensioned so that each pocket 24 is sized to accommodate at least one pad 14. The panels 18 are configured to position over knees of the user. In one embodiment, the panels 18 are elastomeric. In another embodiment, the panels 18 are substantially rectangularly shaped.
Each of a pair of apertures 26 is positioned in a respective panel 18. The apertures 26 are positioned in the panels 18 so that each pocket 24 is positioned to selectively insert the at least one pad 14. The at least one pad 14 is configured to cushion a respective knee of the user when the knee contacts a surface during an activity, such as exercising, cleaning and gardening. In one embodiment, the aperture 26 is positioned adjacent to an outside edge 28 of a respective panel 18. The aperture 26 extends substantially between a top 30 and a bottom 32 of the respective panel 18. In another embodiment, the pads 14 are integral to the pants 12.
Each of a pair of first couplers 34 is coupled to the pants 12 proximate to a respective aperture 26. Each of a pair of second couplers 36 is coupled a respective panel 18 adjacent to the aperture 26. The second couplers 36 are complementary to the first couplers 34. Each second coupler 36 is positioned to couple to an associated first coupler 34 to close the aperture 26 to retain the at least one pad 14 within the associated pocket 24. Each second coupler 36 also is positioned to decouple from the associated first coupler 34 to open the aperture 26 so that the associated pocket 24 is configured to reversibly insert the at least one pad 14. In one embodiment, each second coupler 36 and the associated first coupler 34 comprise a hook and loop fastener 38. In another embodiment, each second coupler 36 and the associated first coupler 34 comprise a zipper 40.
In use, the panels 18 are configured to position over the knees of the user. Each pocket 24 is positioned to selectively insert at least one pad 14. Each second coupler 36 is positioned to couple to the associated first coupler 34 to close the aperture 26 to retain the at least one pad 14 within the associated pocket 24. The at least one pad 14 is configured to cushion the respective knee of the user when the knee contacts the surface during the activity, such as exercising, cleaning and gardening. Each second coupler 36 also is positioned to decouple from the associated first coupler 34 to open the aperture 26 so that the associated pocket 24 is configured to reversibly insert the at least one pad 14.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
