Claims
- 1. A ski boot having a padding device in the interior, said padding device comprising:
- a) a first layer of flowable material which is resistant to flow in response to instantaneously applied pressure and flows in response to continuously applied pressure, said first layer of flowable material being further characterized in that it is capable of deforming into an irregular shape in response to said continuously applied pressure and is capable of substantially retaining said irregular shape after all applied pressure is removed, said first layer of said flowable material located at selected portions of said padding device; and
- b) a second layer of flowable material which is resistant to flow in response to instantaneously applied pressure and which flows in response to continuously applied pressure, said second layer of flowable material being further characterized in that it is capable of deforming into an irregular shape in response to said continuously applied pressure and is capable of substantially retaining said irregular shape after all applied pressure is removed, said second layer of flowable material located substantially adjacent to at least selected portions of said first layer of flowable material.
- 2. A ski boot comprising:
- a) a hard outer shell;
- b) a first layer of flowable material located at selected portions within said hard outer shell which is resistant to flow in response to instantaneously applied pressure and flows in response to continuously applied pressure, said first layer of flowable material being further characterized in that it is capable of deforming into an irregular shape in response to said continuously applied pressure and is capable of substantially retaining said irregular shape after all applied pressure is removed; and
- c) a second layer of flowable material wherein said second layer of flowable material overlaps said first layer of flowable material at least at some portions and which is resistant to flow in response to instantaneously applied pressure and which flows in response to continuously applied pressure, said second layer of flowable material being further characterized in that it is capable of deforming into an irregular shape in response to said continuously applied pressure and is capable of substantially retaining said irregular shape after all applied pressure is removed.
