Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to painting equipment, more specifically but not by way of limitation, a paintbrush that is configured to provide protection of the bristle portion wherein the present invention is configured to cover the bristles once having paint disposed thereon.

BACKGROUND

In North America approximately one and half billion gallons of paint are sold every year. Painting is a routine task both in new construction and in remodeling projects. As is known in the art paint primarily is comprised of a base liquid, additives, binders and pigment. Paint is applied by individuals to a desired surface utilizing a variety of tools. Common painting tools include roller brushes, sprayers and handheld brushes. For the latter, it is known in the art that the conventional paint brush includes a handle portion and a bristle portion wherein the bristle portion is dipped into paint and utilized to spread the paint onto a surface. During the painting process, the bristle portion becomes loaded with pain having a portion remain on the bristles.

One issue with the conventional paint brush is that the paint remaining on the bristles can dry when not in use. Many times during the painting process a painter may need to set down the brush to complete another task. When the paint brush is dormant temporarily with paint on the bristles the pain can begin to develop a skin. Additionally, when setting down a brush loaded with paint, the paint may transfer to an object that it is undesired to transfer paint thereto. Furthermore, a paint brush having paint on the bristles can gather dust or other debris present in the environment which can be transferred to the surface being painted.

Accordingly, there is a need for a paintbrush that is configured to provide protection of the bristle portion when not in use and has paint disposed on the bristle portion so as to inhibit the paint on the bristle portion from drying and getting contaminates thereon.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is the object of the present invention to provide a paintbrush that is configured to provide coverage of the bristle portion when not in use wherein the paintbrush of the present invention includes a handle portion and a bristle portion.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a paintbrush that is configured to maintain paint disposed on the bristle portion dry as well as inhibit contaminants from depositing thereon wherein the paintbrush includes a bristle cover member.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a paintbrush that is configured to provide coverage of the bristle portion when not in use wherein the bristle cover member includes a first position and a second position.

Still another object of the present invention is to provide a paintbrush that is configured to maintain paint disposed on the bristle portion dry as well as inhibit contaminants from depositing thereon wherein in the first position the bristle cover member is circumferentially stowed on a section of the handle portion.

An additional object of the present invention is to provide a paintbrush that is configured to provide coverage of the bristle portion when not in use wherein the bristle cover member in its second position has a section thereof surroundably mounted to the bristle portion of the paintbrush.

Yet a further object of the present invention is to provide a paintbrush that is configured to maintain paint disposed on the bristle portion dry as well as inhibit contaminants from depositing thereon wherein the bristle cover member in its second position has an opening proximate the bottom of the bristle cover member distal to the handle.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a paintbrush that is configured to provide coverage of the bristle portion when not in use wherein the opening includes a closure member configured to provide closing thereof.

An alternative object of the present invention is to provide a paintbrush that is configured to maintain paint disposed on the bristle portion dry as well as inhibit contaminants from depositing thereon wherein the bristle cover member is releasably secured to the paintbrush in order to provide replacement thereof.

To the accomplishment of the above and related objects the present invention may be embodied in the form illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Attention is called to the fact that the drawings are illustrative only. Variations are contemplated as being a part of the present invention, limited only by the scope of the claims.
