Description
TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates in general to the method of and devices used to prevent the damage and soiling that occurs to the lower rear portion of pant legs with excess length as a result of contact with the ground when foot wear is worn, but more specifically to a device that when attached to footwear would support the lower rear excess length of a pant leg preventing it's contact with the ground. Also this invention relates in general to the practice of footwear being produced with a display about the outer rear sole, but more specifically to a device that would improve the view ability of these displays when pant legs with lower rear excess length is worn.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Pant legs with excess length are problematic to their wearer's. Their main fault is that they tend to drag along the ground during motion. This contact with the ground causes the lower rear area of pant legs to become soiled and damaged. Generally this damage occurs as individuals are about their daily activities, and most individuals wear footwear under these circumstances.

Previously the damage that occurs to the lower portions of pant legs with excess length was addressed in one or more of the following examples.

Previously one option to correct or alleviate this problem was to perform alterations to the pant legs. Pant leg alterations consist of manually or mechanically cutting away the pant legs excess length, folding a cuff and sewing a new hem. The problem with this option is that it requires one to posses a certain degree of skill in sewing and also that one have access to the tools, material, and time necessary to complete the task.

Another option has been that one such as a tailor or seamstress can be employed to perform the alterations. However the problem with this option is that it requires first knowing a professional willing to be employed, secondly having the necessary capitol to satisfy the contract, thirdly, to have the spare time to seek out a professional.

Yet another option has been that one tucks and rolls their excess length of pant legs to prevent ground contact. The problem with this option is that during motion the tucks are subjected to constant shock which cause then to unroll, causing the maintenance of this alternative constant and troublesome.

Still another option has been that one again tucks the excess length of the pant legs into rolls and secures them with various forms of fasteners and clip devices. The most obvious problem of this method is it too requires time and effort creating the tucks, positioning these devices in uniform locations, and mainly these types of devices require constant attention in removal and attachment from one pair of pants to the next. Increasing the chance that they will become lost, or the set is broken up, making it necessary to acquire another single, or set of devices.

Also the placement of the brand names, logos, and custom displays on the outer rear of footwear has long been a practice of footwear designers. The sole purpose of this practice is that the brand names, logos, and custom displays can be viewed. However in instances where pants are worn with excess leg length, these placements are obstructed by the lower portions of pant legs. To the best of our knowledge no attempts have been made to correct this occurrence.

For these reasons a need exist for both a less involved means or regulating a pants legs excess length, and a improved means of viewing brand names, logos, and custom displays located around the outer rear area of footwear.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF INVENTION

From the forgoing it maybe appreciated that a need exist for a less involved means of preventing the damage that occurs when the lower rear area of pant leg with excess length makes contact with ground when footwear is worn and improving the visibility of footwear's rear outer display. Present invention is comprised of a generally horizontal lower body and a upright upper body that when attached to footwear a space is created where the lower rear excess length of a pant leg can be placed preventing it's contact with the ground and positioning the lower rear excess length of a pant leg in a fashion that would allow them not to obstruct a footwear's outer rear display from being viewed.

It should be understood at the outset that although on exemplary implementation of the present invention is illustrated below, the present invention may be implemented using any number of techniques, materials, designs and configurations, whether currently known or in existence. The present invention should in no way be limited to the exemplary implementations, drawings and techniques illustrated below, including the exemplary designs and implementations illustrated and described herein. FIGS. 1-6 illustrate various aspects of a pant leg securing device with outer display that attaches to footwear that may be configured, modified, or employed utilizing a lower and outer support according to one or more aspects of the present invention. It should be appreciated, however, that the present invention is not limited to the construction, configuration and implementation of a pant leg securing device with outer display that attaches to footwear illustrated in FIGS. 1-6 and may be utilized on any footwear or with additional or different components or configurations which are within the spirit and scope of the present invention.

Turning now to the drawings in which like reference characters indicate corresponding elements throughout the several views. Attention is now directed to FIG. 1 in which is seen a right side elevation view of pant leg securing device with outer display that attaches to footwear 20. Reference character 20 herein referred to as present invention 20. Present invention 20 having a generally horizontal lower body 21, having an inner surface 22, an outer surface 23, left and right outer edge 24 and rear outer edge 25. An upright upper body 26 having inner surface 27, outer surface 28 and outer edge 29. Present invention 20 maybe constructed of virtually any known or available rigid or semi-rigid material, such as plastic, a polymer, a metal, alloy, wood, rubber or composite material and the like. Generally horizontal lower body 21 serves as lower support with inner surface 22 acting as a floor and outer edge 25 serving as the location to which generally horizontal lower body 21 can be attached to footwear 31. (reference character 31 is illustrated in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6) Also upright upper body 26 serves as an outer support with inner surface 27 acting as a outer wall and outer surface 28 providing an area 29 for a display 30 (reference character 29 and 30 are illustrated in FIG. 5) Also generally horizontal lower body 21 and upright upper body 26 are positioned relative to one another in a manner that creates an angle. The purpose of the angle is to allow generally horizontal lower body 21 and upright upper body 26 to simultaneously perform their respective functions and to create a space 32 (reference character 32 is illustrated in FIG. 4) that when present invention 20 is attached to footwear 31 (reference character 31 is illustrated in FIG. 5) can receive the lower rear portion of a pant leg with excess length 35 (reference character 35 is illustrated in FIG. 6). The requirements for this angle are only that generally horizontal lower body 21 remains generally horizontal, and that the angle does not become so obtuse that inner surface 27 of upright upper body 26 ceases to function as an outer wall, or that the angle becomes so acute that it restricts the insertion of the lower rear portions of a pant leg with excess length 35 (character 35 illustrated in FIG. 6) into space 32 (character 32 illustrated in FIG. 5) when present invention 20 is attached to footwear 31 (character 31 illustrated in FIG. 5) to construct or make present invention 20 a variety of techniques can be employed, including, but not limited to the milling, cutting, carving or molding a single piece of material (with suitable dimensions and composition) into the desired shape of present invention 20, or by using a plurality of pieces of material (with suitable dimensions and composition) and assembling them by a variety of means, in a manner that would achieve the desired shape of the present invention 20. It should be understood that the dimensions or present invention 20 may be subject in part to different types of materials, styles of pants, amounts of excess length and like factors that can effect the thickness and weight of a pant legs lower rear portion, such as a heavy denim blue jean with a forty inch inseam may have a greater weight, thickness and length than a pair of polyester dress slacks with a thirty eight inch inseam. For the above reasons the thickness, weight and length of various pant legs and their relation to the dimensions of present invention 20 are incapable of being exactly defined. The length of the generally horizontal lower body 21 should be at least slightly greater then the thickness of the lower rear areas of the pant leg with excess length. Outer edge 25 of generally horizontal lower body 21 should be shaped in such a way that it closely resembles the area of the footwear to which it is being attached. Such as, for example, to attach present invention 20 to an athletic shoe with a concave shape about the outer rear sole, the outer edge 25 of generally horizontal lower body 21 should have a shape that would allow a relatively close fit over the concave shaped area of the outer rear sole of the athletic shoe. It should be understood that there are many variances in the shapes of areas of footwear to which present invention 20 can be attached especially in relation to different style's and sizes of footwear. For these reasons the shape of outer edge 25 in relation to its close fit to the area of footwear to which it is being attached cannot be exactly defined. The width of generally horizontal lower body 21 should be such that it suspends any area of a pant legs lower rear portion that is able to contact the ground. The height or thickness of generally horizontal lower body 21 should be of sufficient strength to support the weight and stress of suspending the excess length of a pant legs lower rear portion for an extended period of time without fracturing or breaking. The height of inner surface 27 upright upper body 26 should be great enough to prevent the lower rear portion of a pant leg with excess length from sliding or falling off inner surface 22 of generally horizontal lower body 21, outer surface 28 of upright upper body 26 should be of sufficient height and length to provide and adequate area for a display. It should be understood that various types of displays may require a greater area than others, and given the multitude of shapes and sizes relative to displays the total area of outer surface 28 is incapable of being exactly defined. However, outer surface 28 cannot have an area so great that it interferes with the ability of present invention 20 to secure the excess length of a lower rear pant leg. The width or thickness of outer edge 29 should be of a sufficient strength to sustain the weight and stress of preventing lower rear portions of a pant leg from sliding or falling off inner surface 22 of generally horizontal lower body 21 for an extended period of time. Attention is now directed to FIG. 2 in which is seen a plain view of present invention 20, further showing inner surface 22 of generally horizontal lower body 21. Attention is now directed to FIG. 3 in which is seen a front elevation view of present invention 20 further showing outer surface 28 of upright upper body 26. Outer surface 28 creates an area in which a display 30, such as a brand name, trademark or logo can be viewed. Attention is now directed to FIG. 4 in which is seen a perspective view of present invention 20 further showing the relationship between generally horizontal lower body 21 and upright upper body 26. Attention is now directed to FIG. 5 in which is seen a side elevation view of present invention 20. Present invention 20 is attached to footwear 31 at outer surface 25 of generally horizontal lower body 21 to outer rear sole 33 of footwear 31, attaching outer edge 25 to outer rear sole 33 of footwear 31 can be achieved by a variety of means, including but not limited to various adhesives, nailing, tacking, screwing, incorporating the dimensions of present invention 20 into the methods of manufacturing footwear's rear outer sole, such as molding or casting. In one embodiment of present invention 20 a receiver would be placed in footwear that would allow generally horizontal lower body 21 to be plugged in or clipped onto footwear. Other means of attaching present invention 20 to footwear will be readily available to those skilled in the art. FIG. 5 further showing a space 32 that is created in between inner surface 27 and outer rear of footwear 36. Space 32 is the area in which the lower rear portions of a pant leg with excess length 35 (character 35 is illustrated in FIG. 6) are inserted. It should be understood that although present invention 20 is depicted as being attached to footwear 31, towards the middle of outer sole 33, the present invention 20 can be connected to any area of footwear that does not restrict the ability of present invention 20 to suspend and secure the lower rear portions of a pant leg with excess length. In one embodiment a plurality of present invention 20 are attached to footwear. It should also be understood that the present invention 20 may be implemented in virtually any footwear irrespective of the design or make-up. FIG. 5 further showing outer surface 28 of upright upper body 26 is positioned in a manner as to allow a display to be viewed. Attention is now directed to FIG. 6 in which is seen a side elevation view present invention 20 supporting an area of pant leg with excess length 35. To utilize present invention 20 when it is attached to footwear 31 one would simply insert the lower rear portion of a pant leg with excess length into space 32 (character 32 illustrated in FIG. 5) securing the excess length of pant legs and thus preventing their contact with the ground and positioning them in a manner that would not limit the ability to view the footwear's outer rear display 30.
