Claims
- 1. A parachute device comprising:
an outer section extending around at least a portion of the device and defining at least a portion of the outer perimeter of the device, said outer section further defining an inner section of the device bounded within said outer section; said outer section having a hand graspable handle extending longitudinally in at least a portion of said outer section; and a sheet of flexible material suitable for retarding air flow therethrough affixed to said outer section and positioned within said inner section, said material being capable of billowing with air upon manipulation of the device.
- 2. The parachute device of claim 1, wherein said handle comprises at least one tubular member extending longitudinally along said perimeter of the device.
- 3. The parachute device of claim 2, wherein said handle comprises a plurality of tubular handle members extending longitudinally along said perimeter of the device.
- 4. The parachute device of claim 2, wherein said handle comprises a rope.
- 5. The parachute device of claim 2, wherein said handle comprises a tubular piece of foam.
- 6. The parachute device of claim 3, wherein said plurality of handle members are disposed opposite one another along said outer section.
- 7. The parachute device of claim 1, wherein said outer section comprises a closed loop of said material, said handle extending longitudinally within said closed loop.
- 8. The parachute device of claim 3, wherein said plurality of tubular handle members are spaced from one another.
- 9. The parachute device of claim 7, wherein said plurality of tubular handle members are spaced from one another within said closed loop, and separated from one another by a stitch in said material.
- 10. The parachute device of claim 9, wherein said plurality of tubular handle members comprise foam.
- 11. The parachute device of claim 1, wherein the device is circular in shape and has a diameter in the range of about six feet to about thirty feet.
- 12. The parachute device of claim 3, wherein each of said plurality of tubular handle members has a pair of longitudinally-extending end portions, each of said pair of end portions being longitudinally tapered.
- 13. The parachute device of claim 9, wherein said plurality of tubular handle members comprise expanded foam and are spaced from one another a distance suitable to permit said device to be foldable.
- 14. The parachute device of claim 3, wherein each of said plurality of handle members has a length in the range of about twelve to about twenty inches.
- 15. The parachute device of claim 3, wherein said sheet is substantially rectangular in shape, and said plurality of tubular handle members are disposed on opposite ends of the device.
- 16. A parachute device, comprising:
a sheet of flexible material suitable for retarding air flow therethrough and capable of billowing with air upon manipulation of the device; an outer section bounding at least a portion of said sheet and comprising a handle member extending longitudinally along said outer section, said outer section comprising a loop of said material, said handle member extending within said loop.
- 17. The parachute device of claim 16, wherein said device is circular, and said handle member extends longitudinally along the entire circumference of the device.
- 18. The parachute device of claim 17, wherein said handle member comprises a plurality of tubular handle members disposed longitudinally within said loop.
- 19. The parachute device of claim 16, wherein said member handle comprises rope, cord, braid, or the like.
- 20. The parachute device of claim 16, wherein said handle member comprises expanded foam.
