- 2. The converter of claim 1, wherein the first format is analog, the second format is digital, and each of the converters of the converter array is an analog to digital converter.
- 3. The converter of claim 1, wherein the recombination section includes a multiplexer for selecting an output signal from a plurality of signals to form a converter output signal, wherein the converter output signal is of the second format and is representative of the input signal.
- 4. The converter of claim 2, wherein the recombination section includes a compensation section that corrects errors introduced into the converted signals by the converters in the converter array.
- 5. The converter of claim 2, wherein the recombination section includes a compensation section that corrects errors introduced into the converted signals by the decomposition section.
- 6. The converter of claim 1, wherein the first format is digital, the second format is analog, each of the converters of the converter array is a digital to analog converter, the decomposition section includes a plurality of filters for filtering each of the plurality of signals, and the recombination section includes a plurality of filters for filtering each of the converted signals.
- 7. A method for converting an input signal from a first format to a second format, the method comprising steps of:receiving the input signal; splitting the input signal into a plurality of signals; generating a plurality of clock signals each having a clock period and a relative phase delay; converting the plurality of signals from the first format to the second format using a sampling rate determined by the clock period of the plurality of clock signals to produce a plurality of converted signals; and filtering the plurality of signals, the plurality of converted signals or both, wherein the step of filtering includes a step of adjusting the gain.
- 8. The method of claim 7, wherein the first format is analog, the second format is digital, and wherein the step of converting includes a step of converting the plurality of signals from analog to digital.
- 9. The method of claim 7, further comprising a step of multiplexing to select an output signal from a plurality of signals to form a converter output signal, wherein the converter output signal is of the second format and is representative of the input signal.
- 10. The method of claim 8, further comprising a step of correcting errors introduced into the converted signals during the step of converting.
- 11. The method of claim 8, further comprising a step of correcting errors introduced during the step of splitting.
- 12. The method of claim 8, further comprising a step of correcting errors introduced during the step of filtering.
