Claims
- 1. In a parts washer for cleaning parts, the parts washer comprising a tank for containing fluid having a biological component, a basin for receiving the part and including a drain communicating with the tank, with the fluid flowing from the basin to the tank, the improvement therein comprising:
- an improved basin having a side wall with at least one peripheral ledge formed therein so as to define plural sections within the basin, including a basin cavity defined therein;
- a series of partitions between said plural sections within the basin; and;
- a removable filter received and supported within said basin cavity on one of said partitions in a position to receive the fluid flowing through the basin therethrough;
- wherein the fluid flows through the basin as the part is cleaned with the fluid and said filter for trapping particulate matter within the fluid.
- 2. The parts washer of claim 1 and wherein said partitions include a bottom panel defining a first aperture therethrough, and a first partition disposed within said basin cavity on said ledge and defining a second aperture therethrough to enable the fluid to drain through said first partition and said bottom panel as it flows through the basin.
- 3. The parts washer of claim 2 and further including a second partition positioned between said first partition and said bottom panel and having a plurality of apertures formed therethrough.
- 4. The parts washer of claim 1 and wherein said filter includes a series of microorganisms contained therein and which are released into the fluid as the fluid flows through said filter.
- 5. The parts washer of claim 1 and wherein the fluid consists of a biodegradable, non-toxic, oil dispersant, cleaner and degreaser.
- 6. The parts washer of claim 1 and further including a pump and conduit assembly for pumping fluid from the tank to the basin.
- 7. The parts washer of claim 1 and further including a heater for heating the fluid and a level sensor detecting the fluid in the tank and deactivating the heater if the fluid drops below a desired level.
- 8. A parts washer for cleaning parts with a fluid, comprising:
- a tank for containing the fluid;
- a basin adjacent the tank defining a basin cavity and a plurality of side walls;
- a series of protrusions formed in said side walls defining at least first and second sections within said basin;
- a bottom panel defining a first drain aperture in communication with said tank;
- a flow path for the fluid defined between said tank and said basin and back to said tank; and
- a filter positioned within said flow path for filtering particulate contaminants from the fluid, wherein said filter includes microorganisms attached thereto and released into the fluid as the fluid flows through said filter.
- 9. The parts washer for cleaning parts with a fluid, comprising:
- a tank for containing the fluid;
- a basin adjacent the tank defining a basin cavity and a plurality of side walls;
- a series of protrusions formed in said side walls defining at least first and second sections within said basin;
- a bottom panel defining a first drain aperture in communication with said tank;
- a flow path for the fluid defined between said tank and said basin and back to said tank; and
- a filter positioned within said flow path for filtering particulate contaminants from the fluid, wherein said basin further includes a first panel disposed in said basin cavity on a first series of said protrusions above said bottom panel for supporting a part to be cleaned and having a second drain aperture formed therein to enable the fluid to drain through said first panel.
- 10. The parts washer of claim 9 and further including a second panel positioned between said first panel and said bottom panel and having a plurality of apertures formed therethrough.
- 11. The parts washer of claim 10 and wherein said first panel rests on a first ledge within said basin cavity and is removable from said basin cavity and said second panel is supported on a second ledge.
