Claims
- 1. A diagnostic assay for the presence of antibodies to B19 parvovirus in a sample from a patient suspected of being infected with B19 parvovirus, the assay comprising:
- i) contacting the sample with isolated empty B19 parvovirus capsids, and
- ii) detecting the formation of an antigen antibody complex.
- 2. The assay of claim 1, wherein the capsids contain VP2 major structural protein and VP1 minor structural protein.
- 3. The assay according to claim 1, wherein said sample is a serum sample.
- 4. A diagnostic kit to detect the presence of antibodies to B19 parvovirus, comprising:
- i) isolated empty B19 parvovirus capsids, and
- ii) ancillary reagents.
- 5. The diagnostic kit according to claim 4, further comprising a signal-producing system.
- 6. The diagnostic kit according to claim 4, wherein the capsids contain VP2 major structural protein and VP1 minor structural protein.
