Claims
- 1. A method for patient directed therapy management for a drug delivery pump, the method comprising the steps of:
a) accessing at least one preset clinician drug therapy program stored in the drug delivery pump; b) creating at least one personalized drug therapy program from the accessed preset clinician drug therapy program; and c) executing at least one personalized drug therapy program for the drug delivery pump.
- 2. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 1, wherein the personalized drug therapy program comprises at least one personalized therapy setting.
- 3. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 2, wherein the personalized therapy setting comprises an infusion rate.
- 4. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 2, wherein the personalized therapy setting comprises a start time.
- 5. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 2, wherein the personalized therapy setting comprises a stop time.
- 6. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 2, wherein the personalized therapy setting comprises an infusion volume or drug dose.
- 7. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 1, wherein the drug delivery pump comprises an implantable pump.
- 8. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 1, wherein the drug delivery pump comprises an external pump.
- 9. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 1 further comprising the step of storing the personalized drug therapy program in the drug delivery pump.
- 10. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 1, wherein the drug delivery pump and the patient programmer communicate via telemetry.
- 11. In a patient programmer, a method for customizing a patient therapeutic treatment plan for a drug delivery pump, the method comprising the steps of:
a) accessing at least one preset clinician drug therapy program stored in the drug delivery pump; b) displaying the accessed preset clinician drug therapy program on the patient programmer; c) modifying at least one therapy setting from the accessed preset clinician drug therapy program on the patient programmer to create a personalized drug therapy program; d) storing the personalized drug therapy program in the drug delivery pump; and e) executing the personalized drug therapy program for the drug delivery pump.
- 12. The method for customizing a patient therapeutic treatment plan of claim 11, wherein the therapy setting comprises an infusion rate.
- 13. The method for customizing a patient therapeutic treatment plan of claim 11, wherein the therapy setting comprises a start time.
- 14. The method for customizing a patient therapeutic treatment plan of claim 11, wherein the therapy setting comprises a stop time.
- 15. The method for customizing a patient therapeutic treatment plan of claim 11, wherein the therapy setting comprises an infusion volume or drug dose.
- 16. The method for customizing a patient therapeutic treatment plan of claim 11, wherein the drug delivery pump comprises an implantable pump.
- 17. The method for customizing a patient therapeutic treatment plan of claim 11, wherein the drug delivery pump comprises an external pump.
- 18. The method for customizing a patient therapeutic treatment plan of claim 11, wherein the drug delivery pump and the patient programmer communicate via telemetry.
- 19. A patient directed therapy management system comprising in combination:
a) a first medical device comprising a first telemetry block and a first memory with at least one preset clinician therapy program; b) a second medical device comprising a second telemetry block and a second memory with at least one preset clinician therapy program; and c) a patient programmer comprising a third telemetry block, the patient programmer configured to allow creation of at least one personalized therapy program for the first medical device, the patient programmer able to store and execute the personalized therapy program.
- 20. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 19, wherein the patient programmer is further configured to allow creation of at least one personalized therapy program for the second medical device, the patient programmer able to store and execute the personalized therapy program.
- 21. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 19, wherein the first medical device comprises a drug delivery pump.
- 22. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 21, wherein the drug delivery pump comprises an implantable pump.
- 23. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 21, wherein the drug delivery pump comprises an external pump.
- 24. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 19, wherein the second medical device comprises an implantable neuro stimulator.
- 25. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 20, wherein the personalized therapy program for the second medical device comprises at least one personalized therapy setting.
- 26. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 25, wherein the second medical device comprises an implantable neuro stimulator.
- 27. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 25, wherein the personalized therapy setting is comprised of at least one of an amplitude, a rate, a pulse width, a pulse frequency, electrode polarities, or a directional sequence.
- 28. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 19, wherein the personalized therapy program for the first medical device comprises at least one personalized therapy setting.
- 29. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 28, wherein the personalized therapy setting is comprised of at least one of an infusion rate, a start time, a stop time, an infusion volume, or drug dose.
- 30. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 19, wherein the first medical device and the second medical device are contained in a common housing.
- 31. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 19, wherein the second medical device comprises a cardiac pacemaker.
- 32. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 19, wherein the second medical device comprises a defibrillator.
- 33. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 19, wherein the second medical device comprises a cochlear implant.
- 34. In a patient programmer, a method for patient directed therapy management for a combination medical device, the method comprising the steps of:
a) accessing at least one preset therapy program stored in the combination medical device; b) creating at least one personalized therapy program from the accessed preset therapy program; c) storing the personalized therapy program in the combination medical device; and d) executing the personalized therapy program stored in the combination medical device.
- 35. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 34, wherein the combination medial device comprises a first medical device and a second medical device.
- 36. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 35, wherein the first medical device comprises a drug delivery pump.
- 37. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 36, wherein the drug delivery pump comprises an implantable pump.
- 38. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 36, wherein the drug delivery pump comprises an external pump.
- 39. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 35, wherein the second medical device comprises an implantable neuro stimulator.
- 40. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 34, wherein the personalized therapy program comprises at least one personalized therapy setting.
- 41. The method for patient directed therapy management of claim 41, wherein the personalized therapy setting is comprised of at least one of an amplitude, a rate, a pulse width, a pulse frequency, electrode polarities, a directional sequence, an infusion rate, a start time, a stop time, an infusion volume or drug dose.
- 42. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 35, wherein the second medical device comprises a cardiac pacemaker.
- 43. The patient directed therapy management system of claim 35, wherein the second medical device comprises a defibrillator.
