Claims
- 1. A pedal arm assembly comprising:
a main body component having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis, said main body component including first and second arm portions each formed from a stamping of relatively thin gauge material and each having a proximal end and a distal end, said proximal end of each of said arm portions defining a bracket tab, said bracket tabs being spaced apart and each having a pivot pin receiving aperture defined therethrough; and a pedal pad provided at the distal end of the main body component.
- 2. A pedal arm assembly as in claim 1, wherein the distal end of at least one of said arm portions includes a pedal pad portion formed at about 90 degrees with respect to the longitudinal axis of the main body component.
- 3. A pedal arm assembly as in claim 2, wherein each of said first and second arm portions includes a pedal pad portion and each of said pedal pad portions is formed at about 90 degrees to the main body component so as to together define said pedal pad at the distal end of the main body component.
- 4. A pedal arm assembly as in claim 1, wherein said first and second pedal arm portions are mechanically secured together.
- 5. A pedal arm assembly as in claim 4, wherein said first and second pedal arm portions are mechanically secured together by at least one of a weld, a rivet, a toggle-lock, and an integral locking tab.
- 6. A pedal arm assembly as in claim 1, further comprising a linkage pin projecting from said main body component.
- 7. A pedal arm assembly as in claim 5, wherein said linkage pin extends through corresponding apertures defined in each said arm portions.
- 8. A pedal arm assembly as in claim 1, wherein said first and second arm portions are integrally formed as a one piece blank of thin gauge material, said one piece blank being folded about a center line thereof so as to define said main body component.
- 9. A pedal arm assembly as in claim 1, wherein said first and second arm portions are independently formed as a stamping from a thin gauge material, said first and second arm portions being mechanically secured together to define said main body component.
- 10. A pedal arm assembly as in claim 1, wherein said first and second pedal arm portions are mechanically secured by at least one of a weld, a rivet, a toggle-lock, and an integral locking tab.
- 11. A pedal arm assembly as in claim 1, wherein one of said arm portions has a length substantially greater that the other of said arm portions.
- 12. A method of making a pedal arm assembly, comprising:
providing a relatively thin gauge material; stamping said material so as to define a first arm portion blank and a second arm portion blank, each said arm portion blank having a proximal end and a distal end, said proximal end of each of said arm portions defining a bracket tab; forming a pivot pin aperture in each said bracket tab; disposing said arm portions in side-by-side relation to define a main body component; forming said bracket tabs so as to be spaced apart when said arm portions are in said side-by-side relation; and providing a pedal pad at a distal end of the main body component.
- 13. A method as in claim 12, wherein said first and second arm portion blanks are integrally formed as a one-piece blank, and wherein said one-piece blank is folded about a center line thereof so as to define said main body component.
- 14. A method as in claim 12, wherein said first and second arm portions are independently formed, said first and second arm portions are mechanically secured together to define said main body component.
- 15. A method as in claim 12, further comprising mechanically securing said first and second pedal arm portions in said side-by-side relation.
- 16. A method as in claim 15, wherein said step of mechanically securing comprises securing by at least one of a weld, a rivet, a toggle-lock, and an integral locking tab.
