BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Wind is frequently distributed by various types of diverters, both horizontal and vertical, in which the wind is discharged and builds up behind the various points from one end to the other, for example. Without restrictions thereto, wind is discharged forcing various objects to vibrate adding additional pressure on the mechanism designed to hold the object in place. Particularly when the speed of the moving object is increased the wind may gather behind the object forcing it to waiver back and forth from the object for which it is attached. Whereby the PSDWD-10 widget is particularly designed to not only substantially reduce the collecting of the wind behind PSDWD but to also limit PSDWD from rocking back and forth thereby stabilizing the object and aiding in the prevention of PSDWD from becoming a potential hazard to others on the road and the safe transportation of children. The PSDWD-10 widget is designed to be retro fitted to already existing objects and included as a attachment to new devices/objected.
It has proposed that, particularly when the PSDWD-10 widget is combined with already existing objects, for example, the useful life of the object is lengthened and the safety rating is increased when relative to strong wind is blowing against the PSDWD, the wind from both the horizontal and vertical perspective is discharged along the PSDWD away preventing the wind from gathering behind PSDWD and thus making PSDWD safer. One type of diverter having general characteristics therein the wind will be discharged at the upper ends thereof is illustrated in U.S. Pat. Nos. 2,377,760, 3,220,539, June 1945, November 1965. Although the diverter in PSDWD patent is readily subject to being blown by a passing wind. The problem of redirecting the wind when discharging from the PSDWD to which the PSDWD-10 device is attached is that the intended object may come in various prior shapes, and structures, not only in the combined state but as a retro-fit device for diverting the wind around PSDWD. For example, placing a PSDWD-10 device around PSDWD to discharge the wind would accomplish the same desired manner comprises in the subject matter of a PSDWD-10 device shown as a horizontal and/or vertical discharge shield therein a shield means included in the discharge end of the PSDWD to achieve desired re-directing of the discharge wind.
Although the aforementioned prior devices include certain types of shields associated with the discharge end of wind and the like in which the PSDWD-10 device is employed, none of them seems to be suitably adapted to solve the problem of effectively or simply shielding wind discharge from the horizontal and/or vertical passing wind. Therefore, it is the object of the present invention to provide such a wind guard or shield which particularly is adapted to be mounted adjacent the upper end of PSDWD having the PSDWD type therein, details of which are set forth hereinafter.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
t is the principal object of the present invention to provide a wind-guard or shield in the form of a PSDWD-10 device which attaches to the wall of greater diameter than that of the diverter and mounted on the upper end of PSDWD wall in a manner to project upwardly downwardly and around PSDWD diverter a predetermined distance, PSDWD wall being radically spaced from the upper end of the diverter so as to provide an annular discharge space through which wind may flow by gravity while being shielded from contact by wind due to the shaking and rocking effect of the portion of the PSDWD wall which projects beyond the upper end of PSDWD device.
It is another object of the invention to support and extend the life of PSDWD upon which the PSDWD-10 device be retro-fitted and/or included as a attachment of PSDWD by means which permit adjustable movement of PSDWD diverter relative to the upper end of PSDWD and thereby adapt the structure to accommodate different wind discharge speed as well as to provide effective shielding of the discharge wind of different amounts and velocities.
It is a further object of the invention to support PSDWDPSDWD-10 device by relatively simple bracket means that offer minimum obstruction to the passage of the wind through the annular space around PSDWD, PSDWD adjustment of PSDWD being accomplished by simple means and PSDWD adjustment being stabilized by suitable pre-existing clamping bolts and the like.
It is still another object of the invention to adapt PSDWDPSDWD-10 device to the upper end of PSDWD in which the objects limited distance beyond the upper end of the PSDWD-10 device and a suitable bearing bracket is attached to PSDWD upper end of the PSDWD to receive the upper end of the PSDWD-10 device of PSDWD and, ancillary to the foregoing object of the invention, it is a further object to utilize the supporting brackets for the object wall in circumferentially spaced relationship to the bearing bracket so as to provide minimum obstruction to the passage of wind between PSDWD-10 device and PSDWD wall.
One further object of the invention is to adapt the object wall shielding means to the upper end of a object which is inclined a limited distance to the vertical and utilize the various brackets for the bearing and support of the object wall in locations nearest the vertical wall to which the PSDWD-10 device is attached, whereby the portion of the annular space between the PSDWD wall and upper end of the PSDWD-10 device which is furthest from PSDWD vertical wall will be substantially free of brackets and there for unobstructed and readily capable of freely discharging wind between PSDWD unobstructed portion of the object wall and the upper end of PSDWD.
One further object of the invention is to adapt the object wall preventing it from becoming detached from the supporting object wall whereby the portion of the PSDWD will be unsupported and there for become a flying projectile endangering the lives of the others. Details of the foregoing objects and of the invention, as well as other objects thereof, are set forth in the following specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings comprising a part thereof.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The PSDWD-10 device for PSDWD wind distributor which comprises the present invention may be employed in a variety of situations for distributing wind from PSDWDPSDWD-10 device, for example, to a receptacle to receive the same. As indicated hereinabove, there is particular need for a PSDWD-10 device of such type in regard to a wind distributor for the safe transportation of PSDWD to prevent the PSDWD from becoming a road hazard or flying projectile in the case of PSDWD as employed on PSDWD such as shown in FIG. 1a, in which the PSDWD-10 device, which as seen in FIG. 1 and therein extends upwardly from a lower portion of PSDWD FIG. 1a around the PSDWD.
It is conventional that the upper end of the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 2 be disposed either substantially at a level with the upper rim of the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1a or at a higher elevation than PSDWD rim in order that wind, when discharged from the upper end of the PSDWD-10 device, will be able to move around the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1 substantially to the full length and depth of the FIG. 1. The PSDWD-10 device and even dispose the central part of the PSDWD-10 device at a higher level than the rim of the FIG. 1, thereby constituting a fully engaged PSDWD-10 device and fully discharged wind around PSDWD device.
It will be understood that the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1 is designed to move the wind in by a conventional means, not shown, but employed in natural movement of by wind types not shown in exemplary manner in FIG. 1. The PSDWD-10 device is designed to redirect the direction of the wind from the PSDWD mechanism in the lower portion of the \ PSDWD object FIG. 1a, to the upper/lower end of the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1 for discharge of the same around the PSDWD FIG. 1a.
Further, as shown in FIG. 4, it is conventional in mounting PSDWD-10 devices FIG. 1, attached to PSDWD. For example, in FIG. 4, the vertical is indicated by an exemplary axis FIG. 1a, and it will be seen that the axis FIG. 1, is at an inclined angle thereto indicated by an arc A which, for example, may be of the order of approximately 0.064 degree. Such designation is not intended to be restrictive however but merely exemplary. Other appropriate angles may be used.
Referring particularly to FIG. 3, it will be seen that the upper end of the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1 is provided with a preferably axially adjustable PSDWD wall FIG. 2 which comprises a PSDWD-10 device or shield which minimizes the possibility of the threshed wind, when discharged from the upper end FIG. 3 of PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1.
It will be seen from FIG. 4 that the object wall is of greater diameter than that of the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1 and both of PSDWD elements preferably are fitted. The difference in diameters between the two elements is sufficient to provide a substantially annular space FIG. 4 between the inner surface of the PSDWD wall FIG. 2 and the outer surface of the upper end portion of the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 3.
Also as illustrated in FIG. 4, it will be seen that as the wind blows in a direction toward the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1 the diverter will direct the wind upward FIG. 2 thereof, the wind would then be discharged in the form of an exemplary stream and fall by gravity from the lower end of the PSDWD wall FIG. 1. From FIG. 4, it also will be seen that in view of the fact that the upper end of the PSDWD wall FIG. 1a extends substantially beyond the upper end FIG. 1 of PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1, there is little if any possibility for wind passing through/under PSDWD wall to carry any of the wind with it beyond the boundary of the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1.
For purposes of providing effective discharge of wind from the upper end of the PSDWD FIG. 1, it is preferred that the upper end of the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1 extend beyond the upper end of PSDWD FIG. 3, as also shown in FIG. 4, PSDWD upper end of the PSDWD terminating in a projecting end of the 0.064 degrees of the PSDWD.
Further, it will be noted that the PSDWD FIG. 1 which is secured to the wall of PSDWD FIG. 2 is nearest the vertical wall FIG. 1a, whereby the diametrically opposite portion of the annular space FIG. 1, from that in which the attached wall of PSDWD FIG. 1a is located, is substantially free of obstruction with respect to wind being discharged into and from PSDWD angular space, as exemplified by the stream in FIG. 4.
For purposes of supporting the PSDWD wall FIG. 2 which comprises the PSDWD with respect to the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1, attention is directed to FIGS. 2 and 3 in which it will be seen that, preferably, a pair of supporting brackets FIG. 1a are provided, preferably at diametrically opposite sides of PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1 and PSDWD wall. The brackets FIG. 2 may be formed from suitable strip pliable foam of appropriate width and thickness, such as PVC Foam Board, and one leg FIG. 1, of each bracket is secured fixedly against the inner surface of the PSDWD wall FIG. 1a, such as by plastic welding or otherwise. Each bracket FIG. 1, also is provided with an offset leg FIG. 2, of suitable length to permit a limited range of axial adjustment of the tubular wall FIG. 1a, relative to the upper end of PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1a. Two exemplary adjusted positions of the PSDWD wall FIG. 1a, are illustrated in FIG. 4, one of these being in full lines and a lower position being indicated in phantom.
To permit such axial adjustment of the PSDWD wall FIG. 1a, with respect to PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1, the offset legs FIG. 2, thereof are received in suitable socket members FIG. 2, which are of limited length but adequate to provide effective support for the PSDWD wall FIG. 1a, in a desired adjusted position. The socket members FIG. 2, in end view as seen in FIG. 1, are substantially U-shaped and the length of the legs of PSDWD brackets, which are firmly secured to the outer surface of PSDWD-10 device FIG. 4, by any suitable means, are relatively short but adequate to provide a space capable of readily receiving the opposite legs FIG. 2, of the brackets FIG. 1, for ready slide-able movement relative to PSDWD socket members.
A desired adjusted position of the PSDWD wall FIG. 2 with respect to the upper end of PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1, is maintained by securing means of suitable type. The means specifically shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 comprises an inexpensive manufactured expedient comprising a nut(s) FIG. 2, affixed to the outer surface of the socket member and a securing bolt/suitable means is thread ably received through PSDWD nut and extends through an aligned hole in the outer wall of socket member FIG. 2, in order that the inner end of bolt FIG. 2, may engage in clamping manner the offset leg FIG. 2, of each bracket FIG. 1. After PSDWD bolts 12+ have been tightened into clamping relationship with the legs FIG. 2, securing foam is injected upon the bolt FIG. 2, against the fixed nut FIG. 4.
It will be seen from FIG. 2 that the supporting brackets are preferably disposed in diametrically opposed positions with respect to the axis of the PSDWD FIG. 1, and bearing bracket FIG. 2 is disposed circumferentially midway between the supporting brackets FIG. 3, whereby it will be seen from FIG. 2 that the lower half of the annular space FIG. 2, between PSDWD wall FIG. 3, and PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1a, is free of obstruction by any of the brackets. In view of this, referring to FIG. 4, it will be seen that in the preferred construction of the PSDWD comprising the present invention, and especially when the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1, is mounted at an incline with respect to the vertical such as axis FIG. 4, PSDWD tube is arranged so that the bearing bracket FIG. 2, is positioned nearest the axis FIG. 3, and the supporting brackets FIG. 4, respectively are disposed at 90.degree. thereto relative to the axis of PSDWD FIG. 1a, whereby PSDWD relatively unobstructed half circumference of the annular space FIG. 1, referred to above, which is between the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1, and tubular wall FIG. 1a, is disposed farthest from the vertical axis FIG. 1, thereby providing PSDWD unobstructed portion of PSDWD angular space in a location where it is most advantageous for purposes of permitting ready discharge of the stream of wind FIG. 1, from the upper end of the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 2, and permit the same to fall by gravity from the lower end of PSDWD wall FIG. 1a, as shown in exemplary manner in FIG. 4.
It readily can be visualized that, depending upon the volume of wind being discharged from the device, for example, and delivered to the PSDWD-10 device, as well as the rate of operation of the PSDWD FIG. 1a, it may be desirable from time to time under certain circumstances to replace the PSDWD-10 device FIG. 1, and this may be readily accomplished by loosening the securing plastic (not shown) FIG. 2, and locknuts FIG. 4, re-moving the PSDWD FIG. 1, in the desired axial direction, and then replacing it by re-clamping the supporting brackets FIG. 4, with respect to the socket members and re-applying new securing plastic strips (not shown).
