Claims
- 1. A peel-off roller for a lamination station, said peel-off roller being positioned to guide a web carrying a layer of laminate material subsequent to lamination to a substrate, the peel-off roller being positioned so that the backing web moves at an angle relative to a plane of movement of the layer of laminate material and the substrate as the backing web passes from the roller.
- 2. The peel-off roller of claim 1, wherein said peel-off roller rotatably engages the backing web.
- 3. The peel-off roller of claim 1, wherein the peel-off roller is supported in a thermally insulating frame, the roller directly engaging the web between spaced hubs supported on the frame.
- 4. The peel-off roller of claim 3, wherein said frame is made of a plastic material.
- 5. The peel-off roller of claim 1, wherein said roller is mounted in a frame comprising a cross member and a pair of spaced hubs at opposite ends of an open recess, the recess permitting air circulation over the roller.
- 6. For use in a printing and laminating assembly having a printer that prints on a layer carried on a backing web, and having a laminating station to heat laminate the layer to a card moving in a plane, the backing web being transferred to a take up roller subsequent to moving through the lamination station, the improvement comprising a peel-off roller between the lamination station and the take up roller, the peel-off roller engaging the backing web on a side thereof opposite from the layer, the peel-off roller being rotatably mounted in a frame.
- 7. The improvement of claim 6, wherein the frame is made of a heat insulating material.
- 8. The improvement of claim 7, wherein the roller is supported on end hubs and the frame forms a recess between the hubs for air circulation.
- 9. The improvement of claim 6, wherein the peel-off roller is positioned so the backing web forms an angle of between 30° and 45° relative to a plane of movement of the card through the lamination station.
