Claims
- 1. A peelable foam coating composition, comprising a blend of:an aqueous polyurethane dispersion resin in an effective amount having at least 40 percent by weight solids contents; an effective amount of a release agent in an amount of from between 0.1 and 5 percent of the total weight percent of the composition, said release agent being selected from the group consisting of propylene glycol, soy lecithin, organosilicone fluids, nonylphenoxypoly-(ethyleneoxy) ethanol, oleic acid polyethylene glycol monostearate, petrolatum, sodium alkyl benzene, sulfonates, siloxanes, polyglycols, silicone surfactants, polyvinyl alcohol resins, paraffin and polymeric waxes, and synthetic waxes including low molecular weight polyethylene waxes, and combinations thereof; an effective amount of a propellant up to 25 percent by weight; a surfactant or profoamer in an effective amount of up to 5 percent by weight selected from the group consisting of alkanolamides, silicone glycols, alkyl benzene sulfonates, alcohol ethoxylated, phosphate esters, oleates, betaines, alkylphenol ether sulfates, alkylaryl sulfonates, fatty acids, soy lecithin, anionic, cationic, amphoteric, or nonionic surfactants, and combinations thereof; wherein upon curing said peelable foam coating composition forms a smooth sealed exterior skin enclosing a porous interior providing structural integrity thereto.
- 2. The peelable coating of claim 1 including a dye or pigment in an effective amount of from 0.01 to 10.0 percent by weight.
- 3. The peelable coating of claim 1 including a thickening agent in an effective amount of from 0.01 to 5.0 percent by weight.
- 4. The peelable coating of claim 1 including a profoamer in an effective amount of from 0.01 to 1.0 percent by weight.
- 5. The peelable coating of claim 1, including an effective amount of a plasticizer.
- 6. The peelable coating of claim 1 including an effective amount of an antiskinning agent.
- 7. The peelable coating of claim 1 including an effective amount of an antioxidant.
- 8. The peelable coating of claim 1 including an additional amount of a carrier for dilution selected from the group consisting of an aqueous carrier, a alcohol solvent carrier, or combination thereof.
- 9. A foamy peelable coating composition, comprising a blend of:an aqueous polyurethane dispersion resin in an effective amount of at least 40 percent by weight solids of the total weight percent of the composition; an effective amount of a release agent in an amount of from between 0.1 and 5 percent of the total weight percent of the composition, said release agent being selected from the group consisting of soy lecithin, organosilicone fluids, nonylphenoxypoly-(ethyleneoxy)ethanol, oleic acid polyethylene glycol monostearate, petrolatum, sodium alkyl benzene, sulfonates, siloxanes, polyglycols, silicone surfactants, polyvinyl alcohol resins, paraffin and polymeric waxes, and synthetic waxes including low molecular weight polyethylene waxes, and combinations thereof; at least 0.1 percent by weight of a plasticizer selected from the group consisting essentially of polyvinyl alcohol, a cellulose, a polyglycol, a phthalate, an adipate, a sebacate ester, a glyceryl tri(acetoxystearate), an epoxidized soybean oil, an epoxidized linseed oil, an n-butyl benzene sulfonamide, an aliphatic polyurethane, a polyester glutarate, a triethylene glycol, a caprate/caprylate, a long chain alkyl ether, a dialkyl diester, a glutarate, an epoxy plasticizer, a polyester based on adipic acid, a hydrogenated dimer acid, a distilled dimer acid, a polymerized fatty acid trimer, an ethyl ester of hydrolyzed collagen, an isostearic acid, a sorbian oleate, a cocoyl hydrolyzed keratin, a lanolin oil, a dialkyl adipate, an alkylaryl phosphate, an alkyl diaryl phosphate, a modified triaryl phosphate, a triaryl phosphate, a butyl benzyl phthalate, an octyl benzyl phthalate, an alkyl benzyl phthalate, a dibutoxy ethoxy ethyl adipate, a 2-ethylhexyldiphenyl phosphate, a dibutoxy ethoxy ethyl formyl, a diisopropyl adipate, a diisopropyl sebacate, an isodecyl oleate, a neopentyl glycol dicaprate, a neopenty glycol diotanoate, an isohexyl neopentanoate, an ethoxylated lanolin, a polyoxyethylene cholesterol, a propoxylated (2 moles) lanolin alcohols, a propoxylated lanoline alcohol, an acetylated polyoxyethylene derivative of lanoline, a dimethylpolysiloxane, a glycerine, a polyethylene glycol, a dibutyl phthalate, a 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate, and a diisononyl phthalate; a propellant in an amount of up to 20.0 percent of the total weight percent of the composition; wherein upon curing said peelable foam coating composition forms a smooth sealed exterior skin enclosing a porous interior providing structural integrity thereto.
- 10. The peelable coating of claim 9 including a dye or pigment in an effective amount of from 0.01 to 10.0 percent by weight.
- 11. The peelable coating of claim 9 including a thickening agent in an effective amount of from 0.01 to 5.0 percent by weight.
- 12. The peelable coating of claim 9 including a surfactant in an effective amount of from 0.01 to 10.0 percent by weight.
- 13. The peelable coating of claim 9 including an anti-skinning agent in an effective amount of from 0.01 to 1.0 percent by weight.
- 14. The peelable coating of claim 9 including an additional amount of a carrier for dilution selected from the group consisting of an aqueous carrier, a alcohol solvent carrier, or combination thereof.
- 15. A blended peelable foam coating composition comprising:an aqueous polyurethane dispersion resin in an effective amount of at least 40 percent by weight solids of the total weight percent off the composition; a pigment in an amount of up to 10 percent by weight; a release agent in an amount of from between 0.1 and 5 percent of the total weight percent of the composition, said release agent being selected from the group consisting of soy lecithin, organosilicone fluids, nonylphenoxypoly-(ethyleneoxy)ethanol, oleic acid polyethylene glycol monostearate, petrolatum, sodium alkyl benzene, sulfonates, siloxanes, polyglycols, silicone surfactants, polyvinyl alcohol resins, paraffin and polymeric waxes, and synthetic waxes including low molecular weight polyethylene waxes, and combinations thereof; a propellant in an effective amount of up to 25 percent selected from the group consisting of air, a carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and a hydrocarbon propellant; a plasticizer in an amount of up to 20 percent by weight selected from the group consisting essentially of a polyvinyl alcohol, a cellulose, a polyglycol, a phthalate, an adipate, a sebacate ester, a glyceryl tri(acetoxystearate), an epoxidized soybean oil, an epoxidized linseed oil, an n-butyl benzene sulfonamide, an aliphatic polyurethane, a polyester glutarate, a triethylene glycol, a caprate/caprylate, a long chain alkyl ether, a dialkyl diester, a glutarate, an epoxy plasticizer, a polyester based on adipic acid, a hydrogenated dimer acid, a distilled dimer acid, a polymerized fatty acid trimer, an ethyl ester of hydrolyzed collagen, an isostearic acid, a sorbian oleate, a cocoyl hydrolyzed keratin, a lanolin oil, a dialkyl adipate, an alkylaryl phosphate, an alkyl diaryl phosphate, a modified triaryl phosphate, a triaryl phosphate, a butyl benzyl phthalate, an octyl benzyl phthalate, an alkyl benzyl phthalate, a dibutoxy ethoxy ethyl adipate, a 2-ethylhexyldiphenyl phosphate, a dibutoxy ethoxy ethyl formyl, a diisopropyl adipate, a diisopropyl sebacate, an isodecyl oleate, a neopentyl glycol dicaprate, a neopenty glycol diotanoate, an isohexyl neopentanoate, an ethoxylated lanolin, a polyoxyethylene cholesterol, a propoxylated (2 moles) lanolin alcohols, a propoxylated lanoline alcohol, an acetylated polyoxyethylene derivative of lanoline, a dimethylpolysiloxane, a glycerine, a polyethylene glycol, a dibutyl phthalate, a 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate, and a diisononyl phthalate; wherein upon curing said peelable foam coating composition forms a smooth sealed exterior skin enclosing a porous interior providing structural integrity thereto.
- 16. The peelable composition of claim 15, wherein said effective amount of a release agent is from 1 to 3 percent by weight.
- 17. The peelable composition of claim 15, wherein said release agent is soy lecithin.
- 18. The peelable composition of claim 15, wherein said plasticizer is a polyglycol.
- 19. The peelable composition of claim 15, further comprising an effective amount of a silicone surfactant of from 0.001 to 5.0 percent by weight.
- 20. The peelable composition of claim 15 including an effective amount of a polydimethyl-polyether-siloxane block copolymer in a range of from about 0.1 to 5.0 percent by weight.
- 21. The peelable composition of claim 15 wherein said propellant is a hydrocarbon propellant.
- 22. The peelable composition of claim 21 wherein an effective amount of said hydrocarbon propellant is from 5.0 to 20.0 percent by weight.
- 23. The peelable composition of claim 15 including an effective amount of a solvent selected from the group consisting of water, ethyl alcohol, methyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, butyl alcohol, and combinations thereof for diluting said aqueous polyurethane dispersion blend.
- 24. The peelable composition of claim 23 wherein said effective amount of said solvent is up to 10 percent by weight in addition to said water of said aqueous polyurethane dispersion.
- 25. A foamy peelable coating composition blend, comprising:an aqueous polyurethane dispersion resin in an effective amount of from 40 to 98 percent by weight solids of the total weight percent of the composition; and a release agent in an amount of from between 0.1 and 5 percent of the total weight percent of the composition, said release agent being selected from the group consisting of soy lecithin, organosilicone fluids, nonylphenoxypoly-(ethyleneoxy) ethanol, oleic acid polyethylene glycol monostearate, petrolatum, sodium alkyl benzene, sulfonates, siloxanes, polyglycols, silicone surfactants, polyvinyl alcohol resins, paraffin and polymeric waxes, and synthetic waxes including low molecular weight polyethylene waxes, and combinations thereof; a propellant in an amount of up to 25.0 percent of the total weight percent of the composition; wherein upon curing said peelable foam coating composition forms a smooth sealed exterior skin enclosing a porous interior providing structural integrity thereto.
- 26. The peelable composition of claim 25, wherein said peelable composition contains at least 50 percent by weight solid polyurethane latex resin particles and the remainder water.
- 27. The peelable composition of claim 25, wherein said peelable composition contains a polyurethane dispersion resin in an amount of from between 60 to 99 percent by weight.
- 28. The peelable composition of claim 25 wherein an effective amount of said propellant up to 10 percent by weight.
- 29. The peelable composition of claim 25 wherein an effective amount of said propellant is from 5.0 to 20.0 percent by weight.
- 30. The peelable composition of claim 25 wherein said propellant is selected from the group consisting of air and a hydrocarbon propellant.
- 31. The peelable composition of claim 30 wherein said hydrocarbon propellant is selected from the group consisting of A-31, A-46, A-70, A-108, propane/isobutane blends.
- 32. The peelable composition of claim 25 including an effective amount of a plasticizer of up to 10 percent by weight.
- 33. The peelable composition of claim 32, wherein said effective amount of a plasticizer is from 0.1 to 5.0 percent by weight.
- 34. The peelable composition of claim 25, wherein said release agent is soy lecithin.
- 35. The peelable composition of claim 25, wherein said release agent functions as a profoamer.
- 36. The peelable composition of claim 25, including an effective amount of a surfactant of up to 5.0 percent by weight.
- 37. The peelable composition of claim 36, wherein said surfactant is selected from the group consisting of alkanolamides, silicone glycols, alkyl benzene sulfonates, alcohol ethoxylated, phosphate esters, betaines, alkylphenol ether sulfates, alkylaryl sulfonates, fatty acids, soy lecithin, and combinations thereof.
- 38. The peelable composition of claim 36 wherein said effective amount of said surfactant is up to 10 percent by weight.
- 39. The peelable composition of claim 36, wherein said surfactant is a nonionic surfactant.
- 40. The peelable composition of claim 25 including an effective amount of an additional solvent.
- 41. The peelable composition of claim 25 wherein said effective amount of said solvent is up to 10 percent by weight in addition to the water contained in said aqueous polyurethane dispersion.
- 42. The peelable composition of claim 25 including an effective amount of a polyglycol.
- 43. The peelable composition of claim 42 wherein said effective amount of a polyglycol is from between 0.1 and 20.0 percent by weight.
- 44. The peelable composition of claim 42 wherein said polyglycol is polypropylene glycol.
- 45. The method of applying the peelable composition of claim 15 to a substrate forming a film of from 20 to 40 mils in thickness.
- 46. The method of applying the peelable composition of claim 15 to a substrate forming a film having a thickness of up to 80 mils in thickness.
- 47. The method of applying the peelable composition of claim 25 to a substrate forming a foam type peelable coating having a thickness ranging from 0.1 to 1.0 inches in thickness.
- 48. The peelable composition of claim 15, including a plasticizer in an amount of up to 20 percent by weight selected from the group consisting essentially of a polyvinyl alcohol, a cellulose, a polyglycol, a phthalate, an adipate, a sebacate ester, a glyceryl tri(acetoxystearate), an epoxidized soybean oil, an epoxidized linseed oil, an n-butyl benzene sulfonamide, an aliphatic polyurethane, a polyester glutarate, a triethylene glycol, a caprate/caprylate, a long chain alkyl ether, a dialkyl diester, a glutarate, an epoxy plasticizer, a polyester based on adipic acid, a hydrogenated dimer acid, a distilled dimer acid, a polymerized fatty acid trimer, an ethyl ester of hydrolyzed collagen, an isostearic acid, a sorbian oleate, a cocoyl hydrolyzed keratin, a lanolin oil, a dialkyl adipate, an alkylaryl phosphate, an alkyl diaryl phosphate, a modified triaryl phosphate, a triaryl phosphate, a butyl benzyl phthalate, an octyl benzyl phthalate, an alkyl benzyl phthalate, a dibutoxy ethoxy ethyl adipate, a 2-ethylhexyldiphenyl phosphate, a dibutoxy ethoxy ethyl formyl, a diisopropyl adipate, a diisopropyl sebacate, an isodecyl oleate, a neopentyl glycol dicaprate, a neopenty glycol diotanoate, an isohexyl neopentanoate, an ethoxylated lanolin, a polyoxyethylene cholesterol, a propoxylated (2 moles) lanolin alcohols, a propoxylated lanoline alcohol, an acetylated polyoxyethylene derivative of lanoline, a dimethylpolysiloxane, a glycerine, a polyethylene glycol, a dibutyl phthalate, a 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate, and a diisononyl phthalate.
- 49. The peelable composition of claim 25, further comprising an effective amount of a polydimethyl-polyether-siloxane block copolymer in an amount of up to 5.0 percent by weight.
