The present invention relates to head mounted storage whereby a storage system functions as a tool holder and is attached so as to provide a stationary place to hold said tool, specifically a carpenter pencil.
Hats and caps with storage compartments such as pockets have been in the market for sometime. The hats that have used this concept include baseball-style caps, straw hats including safari, fishermen hats, hard hats and military helmets. However such apparel is primarily used to store items of individual choice such as money, paper, identification cards, fishing hooks and other items that need to be in an enclosed pocket. The devices used to close the pockets are usually a rivet-style button, reclosable material, or a zipper. Such compartments were designed for internal storage and may be mounted on the inside or outside of the headgear. Other plastic, foam or rubber sleeve devices are in the market. However, the purpose of those devices are to increase the comfort and the gripping ability of the writer, to prevent callous spots on fingers or to ease the pain of arthritis.
None of the cited headgear provides satisfactory arrangements for quick, easy access to a carpenter pencil due to the length of the writing tool involved. This storage system does not require pockets or enclosures of any sort. This arrangement does not require the cumbersome task of locating a button or zipper. The present invention addresses storage for a specific item.
None of the cited sleeve devices exist for the purpose attaching the combined writing device and the sleeve to another device or for providing storage.
The present invention solves a common problem experienced by a variety of workers such as carpenters, painters, plumbers, construction workers and the like who use carpenter pencils in that it provides immediate external storage and placement of the carpenter pencil as well as quick and easy access during projects. Many workers typically store writing devices behind the ear or in their hair. The pencil cap improves the location of writing devices, specifically, the carpenter pencil, by decreasing the chances of the device being misplaced and eliminates the need for said device to touch the body.
The present invention does not seek to improve on any current invention of its' kind as there are none known.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a lightweight external storage system attached to a baseball style cap and designed to overcome the obstacle of misplaced carpenter pencils.
In two embodiments, a hat with a crown and an extended bill and a separate circular sleeve; the crown is embellished with a strip of reclosable fastener loop material mounted on either side, the separate sleeve of reclosable fastener elastic style hook material shaped as a barrel. The hat has an adjustable strap to accommodate different head sizes.
There are no batteries, wires, electrical circuits or apparatus capable of conducting electrical current. The attached storage system does not produce light or sound.
