Claims
- 1. A digital subscriber line (DSL) modem receiver having customizable performance characteristics, comprising:
means for negotiating a performance parameter for optimization; means for determining a net signal-to-noise ratio; means for establishing a transmission power level between a DSL modem transmitter and the DSL modem receiver based upon the net signal-to-noise ratio; and means for requesting an adjustment in the performance parameter based on the net signal-to-noise ratio.
