- 1. A method of improving performance of a reflector surface, comprising the steps of:providing a trough-shaped solar reflector shape extending along a longitudinal axis; and imposing a variable broken symmetry structure upon the solar reflector shape, the broken symmetry structure defining a non-elliptical phase space acceptance range for the reflector shape and thereby causing a substantially band-like shape in phase space for the acceptance zone for the reflector shape over a solar year.
