Claims
- 1. A distal perfusion device for maintaining blood flow in a blood vessel comprising:a first tapered end member having at least one perfusion opening and a tip located distal to the perfusion opening; a second tapered end member having at least one perfusion opening and a tip located distal to the perfusion opening; a main tubular body extending between said first and second end members, said main tubular body comprising a centrally disposed lumen in fluid communication with said perfusion openings of said first and second and members; and a support member extending from said main tubular body and in fluid communication with the centrally disposed lumen.
- 2. The device of claim 1 further comprising a fluid holding chamber in fluid communication with said supporting member.
- 3. The device of claim 2 wherein said fluid holding chamber contains saline.
- 4. The distal perfusion device of claim 1 further comprising means for expansion or contraction of said main tubular body.
- 5. The distal perfusion device of claim 4 wherein said means for expansion or contraction is a thread.
- 6. The distal perfusion device of claim 4 wherein said means for expansion or contraction is a wire.
- 7. The distal perfusion device of claim 1 further comprising means for delivery or removal of said device from a blood vessel.
- 8. The distal perfusion device of claim 7 wherein said means for delivery includes a flexible elongated member.
- 9. The distal perfusion device of claim 8 wherein said flexible elongated member is an introducer tube.
- 10. The distal perfusion device of claim 8 wherein said flexible elongated member is a guide wire.
- 11. The distal perfusion device of claim 1 wherein said supporting member is configured to support a distal end of an artery or vein to be used in an anastomosis.
