Claims
- 1. A method for producing personalized greeting cards, comprising:
a) receiving a plurality of greeting card orders; b) separating the greeting card orders into batches; c) producing the ordered greeting cards, including printing a batch-separation symbol on at least one greeting card in each batch; and d) separating the produced greeting cards into batches using the batch-separation symbols.
- 2. The method of claim 1 further comprising sorting the greeting cards in a pre-determined sequence in each batch, wherein the printing of batch separation symbols comprises printing batch separation symbols on at least one of the first card and the last card in the predetermined sequence in each batch.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein different batch-separation symbols are printed on the first greeting card and the last greeting card in a batch.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein the batch-separation symbols include one of the following: visual symbols, machine-readable symbols, and alpha-numeric characters.
- 5. The method of claim 4 wherein the separating the produced greeting cards further comprises reading at least one machine-readable symbol printed on a greeting card in each batch.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein the separating the greeting card orders and the produced greeting cards are based on recipients of the greeting cards or a container capacity for shipping the produced greeting cards.
- 7. The method of claim 1 wherein the produced greeting cards include images provided by the users who ordered the greeting cards.
- 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the greeting card orders are submitted by the users at computer terminals, and received by a server that is remote to the computer terminals.
- 9. The method of claim 1 further comprising varying one or more colors of the batch-separation symbols according to order properties of the corresponding batch of the greeting cards.
- 10. The method of claim 1 wherein the production of the ordered greeting cards further comprises:
i) printing the greeting card information on one or more receivers; ii) cutting the one or more receivers into pieces of individual greeting cards; and iii) folding each receiver piece to produce the greeting cards.
- 11. A method for producing greeting cards, comprising:
a) receiving a plurality of greeting card orders having specified recipients; b) separating the greeting card orders in batches; c) producing the ordered greeting card batches; d) inserting a header greeting card between successive batches of produced greeting cards; and e) separating the produced greeting cards into batches using the header greeting cards.
- 12. The method of claim 11 wherein the header greeting card includes one or more batch-separation symbols.
- 13. The method of claim 11 further comprising sending the one or more header greeting cards with the produced greeting cards to the recipients.
- 14. The method of claim 11 wherein the header greeting card is not ordered by a user.
- 15. The method of claim 11 wherein the header greeting card includes product promotional information.
- 16. The method of claim 11 wherein the header greeting card includes order information of the greeting cards.
- 17. The method of claim 11 wherein the header greeting card includes information customized to individual user-specified recipients.
- 18. The method of claim 11 wherein the produced greeting cards include images provided by the users who ordered the greeting cards.
- 19. The method of claim 11 wherein the greeting card orders are submitted by the users at computer terminals, and received by a server that is remote to the computer terminals.
- 20. A method for producing a greeting card to be sent in an envelope to a recipient, comprising:
a) receiving one or more greeting card orders having one or more specified recipients; b) producing at least one greeting card in the greeting card order; d) printing card matching information and address information on the envelope; and e) matching the envelope with the corresponding greeting card according to the card-matching information printed on the envelope.
- 21. The method of 20 further comprising
f) inserting the greeting card into the matched envelope.
- 22. The method of claim 20 wherein the card matching information is printed in a stamp area on the envelope.
- 23. The method of claim 20 wherein the card matching information includes an alphanumeric number that matches a corresponding alphanumeric number printed on the corresponding greeting card.
- 24. The method of claim 20 wherein the card matching information includes a machine-readable symbol encoded with information for matching the corresponding greeting card.
- 25. The method of claim 20 further including receiving an image from a user.
- 26. The method of claim 25 wherein the producing at least one greeting card includes printing the user-provided image on the greeting card.
- 27. The method of claim 20 wherein the greeting card orders are submitted by users at computer terminals, and received by a server remote to the computer terminals.
- 28. A method for producing personalized photo product, comprising:
a) receiving digital images from users; b) receiving orders of personalized photo product; c) separating the personalized photo product orders into batches; d) producing the personalized photo product, including printing a batch-separation symbol on at least one personalized photo product in each batch; and e) separating the produced personalized photo product into batches using the batch-separation symbols.
- 29. A system for producing personalized photo greeting cards, comprising:
a) a server for receiving digital images from a user; b) a computer terminal in remote connection with the server for the user to send the digital images and the order information to the server, each order including at least one personalized photo greeting card having one or more digital image provided by the user; and c) a printing and finishing facility for producing the personalized photo greeting cards in batches, including printing batch-separation symbols on at least one personalized photo greeting card in each batch, separating the produced personalized photo greeting cards into batches using the batch-separation symbols, and shipping the personalized photo greeting cards to user-specified recipient.
