Claims
- 1. The compound which is:
- 3-acetyl-5-amino-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-5-amino-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-ethylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl 1 (2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-5-ethylamino-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-5-methylamino-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-5-(2-carbamoylmethylamino)-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl-5-(2-ethylsulfonylethylamino)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-1-(2,6dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-5-(2-carbamoylethylamino)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl -5-amino-1-(2-bromo-6-chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinyl-5-trifluoromethylthioaminopyrazole; or
- 3-acetyl-5-amino-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-pentafluorothiophenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- or a pesticidally acceptable salt thereof.
- 2. The compound which is 3-acetyl-5-amino-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole, or a pesticidally acceptable salt thereof.
- 3. A pesticidal composition comprising a pesticidally effective amount of a compound as claimed in claim 1, or a pesticidally acceptable salt thereof, and a pesticidally acceptable diluent or carrier therefor.
- 4. A pesticidal composition according to claim 3, wherein the pesticidally effective amount is an aphicidally effective amount.
- 5. A pesticidal composition according to claim 3, comprising from about 0.00005% to about 90% by weight of said compound.
- 6. A pesticidal composition comprising a pesticidally effective amount of the compound as claimed in claim 2, or a pesticidally acceptable salt thereof, and a pesticidally acceptable diluent or carrier therefor.
- 7. A pesticidal composition according to claim 6, wherein the pesticidally effective amount is an aphicidally effective amount.
- 8. A pesticidal composition according to claim 6, comprising from about 0.00005% to about 90% by weight of said compound.
- 9. A method for controlling insects at a locus at which insects are present or are expected to be present, said method comprising applying to said locus an insecticidally effective amount of the compound which is:
- 3-acetyl-5-amino-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-5-amino-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-ethylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-5-ethylamino-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-5-methylamino-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-5-(2-carbamoylmethylamino)-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole:
- 3-acetyl-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-5-(2-ethylsulfonylethylamino)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-5-(2-carbamoylethylamino)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-5-amino-1-(2-bromo-6-chloro4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- 3-acetyl-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinyl-5-trifluoromethylthioaminopyrazole; or
- 3-acetyl-5-amino-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-pentafluorothiophenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole;
- or a pesticidally acceptable sat thereof; under conditions in which mammals are exposed to said compound.
- 10. A method for controlling insects at a locus at which insects are present or are expected to be present, said method comprising applying to said locus an insecticidally effective amount of the compound 3-acetyl-5-amino-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole, or a pesticidally acceptable salt thereof, under conditions in which mammals are exposed to said compound.
- 11. A method according to claim 9, wherein the insects are sucking insects.
- 12. A method according to claim 10, wherein the insects are sucking insects.
- 13. A method according to claim 11, wherein the sucking insects are aphids, plant bugs or stinkbugs.
- 14. A method according to claim 12, wherein the sucking insects are aphids, plant bugs or stinkbugs.
- 15. A method according to claim 11, wherein the sucking insects are controlled systemically.
- 16. A method according to claim 12, wherein the sucking insects are controlled systemically.
- 17. A method according to claim 9, wherein the locus is an area used or to be used for the growing of crops and the compound is applied at a rate of 5 g to 1 kg per hectare.
- 18. A method according to claim 10, wherein the locus is an area used or to be used for the growing of crops and the compound is applied at a rate of 5 g to 1 kg per hectare.
- 19. A method according to claim 9, wherein tile locus is an animal and the compound is applied at a rate of 0.1 mg to 20 mg per kg of body weight of animal per day.
- 20. A method according to claim 10, wherein the locus is an animal and the compound is applied at a rate of 0.1 mg to 20 mg per kg of body weight of animal per day.
- 21. A process for the preparation of a compound as claimed in claim 1, said process comprising:
- (a) reacting the corresponding 5-amino-3-cyano-1-(2,4,6-trisubstituted phenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole or 5-amino-3-cyano-1-(2,4,6-trisubstituted phenyl)-4-ethylsulfinylpyrazole with a compound of the formula CH.sub.3 M wherein M is an alkali metal or an alkalide earth metal salt; or
- (b) thiolating 3-acetyl-5-amino-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole with trifluoromethylthio chloride to afford 3-acetyl-1-(2,6dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinyl-5-trifluoromethylthioaminopyrazole;
- followed by, if desired, converting the compound thus obtained into a pesticidally acceptable salt thereof.
- 22. A process for the preparation of the compound as claimed in claim 2, said process comprising reacting 5-amino-3-cyano-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-methylsulfinylpyrazole with methyl magnesium bromide.
