Claims
- 1. A process for the preparation of an S-alkyl ester of an N-alkyl carbamothioic acid having the formula: ##STR9## wherein R and R.sub.2 are each an alkyl group and R.sub.1 is hydrogen or alkyl, which comprises refluxing the corresponding alkyl ester of N-alkyl thiocarbamic acid having the formula I ##STR10## wherein R and R.sub.2 are each alkyl and R.sub.1 is hydrogen or alkyl, in the presence of an acid catalyst selected from the group consisting of iodine and sulfuric acid.
- 2. A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the refluxing is effected at a temperature in the range of solvents selected from benzene, chloroform, and dichloroethane.
- 3. A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the refluxing is effected at a temperature in the range of 65.degree. C. to 120.degree. C. for a period of from 8 to 15 hours.
- 4. A process as claimed in claim 3 wherein the acid catalyst is iodine.
- 5. A process a claimed in claim 3 wherein the acid catalyst is sulfuric acid.
