Claims
- 1. A therapeutic agent for blocking cardiac beta-1-receptors and for treating hypertonia and cardiac arrhythmias which comprises an effective amount of compound of the formula I ##STR6## where R is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, which is unsubstituted or substituted by hydroxyl, alkoxy of 1 to 3 carbon atoms or cycloalkyl with 3 to 8 carbon atoms in the ring, alkenyl or alkynyl of 2 to 8 carbon atoms, or cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl with 3 to 8 carbon atoms in the ring, the cycloalkyl rings being unsubstituted or mono- or di-substituted by alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, or an addition salt thereof with a physiologically acceptable acid, as the active ingredient, together with conventional excipients and diluents.
- 2. The therapeutic agent of claim 1, which comprises an effective amount of compound of the formula I wherein R is alkyl of 3 to 6 carbon atoms which is branched at the carbon in the .alpha.-position to the nitrogen, and which is unsubstituted or substituted by alkoxy of 1 to 3 carbon atoms or where R is alkenyl or alkynyl of 2 to 8 carbon atoms, or is cyclopropyl, or an addition salt thereof with a physiologically acceptable acid.
- 3. The therapeutic agent of claim 1, which comprises an effective amount of 2-methyl-5-[2(2-hydroxy-3-isopropylamino-propoxy)-styryl]-1,3,4-thiadiazole or an addition salt thereof with a physiologically acceptable acid.
- 4. The therapeutic agent of claim 1, which comprises an effective amount of 2-methyl-5-[2-(2-hydroxy-3-cyclopropylaminopropoxy)-styryl]-1,3,4-thiadiazole or an addition salt thereof with a physiologically acceptable acid.
- 5. The therapeutic agent of claim 1, which comprises an effective amount of 2-methyl-5-[2-(2-hydroxy-3-tert.-butylamino-propoxy)-styryl]-1,3,4-thiadiazole or an addition salt thereof with a physiologically acceptable acid.
- 6. The therapeutic agent of claim 1, which comprises an effective amount of 2-methyl-5-[2-(2-hydroxy-3-(but-1-ynyl-3-amino)-propoxy)-styryl]-1,3,4-thiadiazole or an addition salt thereof with a physiologically acceptable acid.
- 7. A method of blocking cardiac beta-1-receptors and of treating hypertonia and cardiac arrhythmias in man, comprising the administration either orally or parenterally of a sufficient amount of the agent of claims 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 to provide a dosage of 1-100 mg of the active ingredient to the patient suffering from hypertonia or cardiac arrhythmias.
