Claims
- 1. A curative mixture comprising: as a first component, the reaction product of reactants from each of the three classes
- (I) a phenol which has at least one unsubstituted reactive position on the aromatic nucleus,
- (II) a aldehyde, and
- (III) an aromatic amine,
- which reaction product contains no substantial amount of component from any other class of reactant, and, as a second component,
- an organic diol,
- said mixture containing from about 20 to about 80 parts by weight of said first component per 100 parts by weight of said first and said second components together.
- 2. A mixture as claimed in claim 1 wherein said first component is the reaction product of
- (I) phenol,
- (II) formaldehyde, and
- (III) aniline, wherein the molar ratio of (I) to (III) ranges from about 6:1 to about 1:6 and wherein the molar ratio of (I) and (III) to (II) ranges from about 6:1 to about 1.2:1.
- 3. A mixture as claimed in claim 2 wherein said second component is an aromatic diol.
- 4. A mixture as claimed in claim 3 wherein the aromatic diol is the reaction product of aniline and ethylene oxide.
- 5. A mixture as claimed in claim 2 wherein said second component is an aliphatic glycol having between 2 and 6 carbon atoms.
- 6. A mixture as claimed in claim 5 wherein said second component is propylene glycol.
