Claims
- 1. A para-ordered aromatic heterocyclic polymer consisting essentially of repeating units having a structure as represented by one of the following formulas: ##STR11## wherein X in each formula is S or O; Ar is ##STR12## R and R' are hydrogen, a monovalent aromatic radical as listed above, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.3, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.3, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.3, ##STR13## and n is an integer equal to the number of repeating units and has a value such that the polymer has an intrinsic viscosity of 2 to 12 dl/g as determined in methanesulfonic acid at 30.degree. C.
- 2. The para-ordered aromatic heterocyclic polymer according to claim 1 that consists essentially of repeating units having a structure as represented by formula (a).
- 3. The para-ordered aromatic heterocyclic polymer according to claim 1 that consists essentially of repeating units having a structure as represented by formula (b).
- 4. The para-ordered aromatic heterocyclic polymer according to claim 2 in which X is O, Ar is ##STR14## and R and R' are each ##STR15##
- 5. The para-ordered aromatic heterocyclic polymer according to claim 2 in which X is S, Ar is ##STR16## and R and R' are each ##STR17##
- 6. The para-ordered aromatic heterocyclic polymer according to claim 2 in which X is O, Ar is ##STR18## and R and R' are each hydrogen.
- 7. The para-ordered aromatic heterocyclic polymer according to claim 3 in which X is O, Ar is ##STR19## and R and R' are each ##STR20##
