Claims
- 1. A compound selected from the group consisting of compounds of the formula ##STR31## wherein one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of --CN, --NO.sub.2, halogen, --CF.sub.3, free carboxy, salified carboxy and carboxy esterified with lower alkyl; and the other is selected from the group consisting of cyano, nitro and carboxy, --A--B-- is selected from the group consisting of ##STR32## wherein X is .dbd.O or .dbd.S, R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, phenyl and phenylalkyl, each of up to 12 carbon atoms, all optionally substituted with at least one member of the group consisting of --OH, halogen, --SH, --CN and acyl and acyloxy of up to 7 carbon atoms Y is .dbd.O, .dbd.S, or .dbd.NH; R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 taken together with the carbon atom to which they are attached form cycloalkyl of 3 to 7 carbon atoms and their non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts.
- 2. A compound of claim 1 wherein Y is --O-- and --A--B-- is ##STR33## and X and R.sub.3 are as defined in claim 1.
- 3. A compound of claim 1 wherein --A--B-- is ##STR34## X is as defined in claim 1 and R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms optionally substituted with --OH.
- 4. A compound of claim 3 wherein R.sub.3 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms optionally substituted by --OH.
- 5. A compound of claim 3 wherein R.sub.3 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms optionally substituted by --OH.
- 6. A compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.2 is 3--CF.sub.3 and R.sub.1 is 4--CN.
- 7. A compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 taken together with the carbon atom to which they are attached, form cyclopentyl or cylclobutyl.
- 8. An anti-androgenic composition comprising an anti-androgenically effective amount of at least one compound of claim 1 and an inert pharmaceutical carrier.
- 9. A compound of claim 1 which is 4-[-methyl-4-oxo-2-thioxo-1,3-diazaspiro-(4,4)-nonan-3-yl]-2-trifluoromethyl-benzonitrile.
- 10. A method of inducing anti-androgenic activity in warm-blooded animals comprising administering to warm-blooded animals an anti-androgenically effective amount of a compound of claim 1.
