Claims
- 1. A process for preparing phosphazene derivatives of cyclic or linear structure, having the following formula: ##STR15## where: n is 0 in the case of a cyclic structure and n is 1 in the case of a linear structure;
- m is an integer from 3 to 7; and
- the A groups, like or different from each other, are selected from the groups consisting of:
- (i) R--Q--, where
- Q is a divalent group selected from the group consisting of --O--, --S--, --NH--NH--, and --NR.sub.1 --,
- where R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group; and
- R is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aryl groups, and C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aryl groups substituted by one or more groups selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyls, --OR.sub.2, --NR.sub.3 R.sub.4, --NO.sub.2, --F, and --Cl,
- where R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyls; and
- (ii) R.sub.f --CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.s --, where:
- s is equal to 0, 1, or 2; and R.sub.f is a perfluoropolyethereal chain having a molecular weight ranging from 400 to 10,000 and composed of repeating units selected from the group consisting of: ##STR16## (e) (CYZ--CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O), where Y and Z, like or different from each other, are F, Cl, or H;
- (f) (CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O);
- the various repeating units being statisically distributed along the chain;
- with the proviso that at least a group of type (i) and at least a group of type (ii) are present in the same molecule;
- groups R--Q being also capable of forming, if linked to the same P atom, a cyclic structure having the following formula: ##STR17## wherein a perchlorophosphazene of formula:
- �Cl.sub.4 P!.sub.n --(N.dbd.PCl.sub.2).sub.m Cl.sub.n n,
- where n and m are defined above, is reacted with an aromatic compound of formula R--Q--H and a perfluoropolyether compound of formula:
- R.sub.f --CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.s --OH,
- where R, Q, and R.sub.f are as defined above, previously treated with a base.
- 2. The process of claim 1, wherein the base is an alkaline metal hydride.
- 3. The process of claim 1, wherein the perchlorophosphazene derivative is first reacted with the aromatic compound R--Q--H, previously treated with the base, in such amounts that the molar ratio of aromatic compound to perchlorophosphazene ranges from 2:1 to 5:1, and then with the perfluoropolyethereal compound:
- R.sub.f --CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.s --OH
- previously treated with base, in such amounts that the molar ratio of perfluoropolyethereal compound to perchlorophosphazene ranges from 2:1 to 5:1.
- 4. The process of claim 2, wherein the perchlorophosphazene derivative is first reacted with the aromatic compound R--Q--H, previously treated with the base, in such amounts that the molar ratio of aromatic compound to perchlorophosphazene ranges from 2:1 to 5:1, and then with the perfluoropolyethereal compound:
- R.sub.f --CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.s --OH
- previously treated with base, in such amounts that the molar ratio of perfluoropolyethereal compound to perchlorophosphazene ranges from 2:1 to 5:1.
- 5. A process for preparing phosphazene derivatives of cyclic or linear structure having the following formula: ##STR18## where: n is 0 in the case of a cyclic structure and n is 1 in the case of a linear structure;
- m is an integer from 3 to 7; and
- the A groups, like or different from each other, are selected from the groups consisting of:
- (i) R--Q--, where
- Q is a divalent group selected from the group consisting of --O--, --S--, --NH--NH--, and --NR.sub.1 --,
- where R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group; and
- R is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aryl groups, and C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aryl groups substituted by one or more groups selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyls, --OR.sub.2, --NR.sub.3 R.sub.4, --NO.sub.2, --F, and --Cl,
- where R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyls; and
- (ii) R.sub.f --CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.s --, where:
- s is equal to 0, 1, or 2; and R.sub.f is a perfluoropolyethereal chain having a molecular weight ranging from 400 to 10,000 and composed of repeating units selected from the group consisting of: ##STR19## T is a fluoroalkyl group selected from the group consisting of --CF.sub.3, --C.sub.2 F.sub.5, --C.sub.3 F.sub.7, --CF.sub.2 Cl, --C.sub.2 F.sub.4 Cl, and --C.sub.3 F.sub.6 Cl;
- X is --F or --CF.sub.3 ;
- Z is --F, --Cl or --CF.sub.3 ; and
- m and n are numbers such that the n/m ratio ranges from 0.01 to 0.5, and the molecular weight ranges from 400 to 10,000;
- T.sup.I --O--(CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O).sub.p (CFO).sub.q --CFZ.sup.I --, (b)
- where:
- T.sup.I is a fluoroalkyl group selected from the group consisting of --CF.sub.3, --C.sub.2 F.sub.5, --CF.sub.2 Cl, and --C.sub.2 F.sub.4 Cl;
- Z.sup.I is --F or --Cl; and
- p and q are numbers such that the q/p ratio ranges from 0.5 to 2 and, the molecular weight ranges from 400 to 10,000; ##STR20## T.sup.II is a fluoroalkyl group selected from the group consisting of --CF.sub.3 --C.sub.2 F.sub.5, --C.sub.3 F.sub.7, --CF.sub.2 Cl, --C.sub.2 F.sub.4 Cl, and --C.sub.3 F.sub.6 Cl;
- X.sup.II is --F or --CF.sub.3 ;
- Z.sup.II is --F, --Cl, or --CF.sub.3 ; and
- r, s and t are numbers such that (r+s) ranges from 1 to 50, the t/(r+s) ratio ranges from 0.1 to 0.05, and the molecular weight is from 400 to 10,000; ##STR21## T.sup.III is --C.sub.2 F.sub.5, or --C.sub.3 F.sub.7 ; and u is a number such that the molecular weight ranges from 400 to 10,000;
- T.sup.IV --O--(CYZ--CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O).sub.v --CYZ--CF.sub.2 --, (e)
- where:
- Y and Z, equal or different, are F, Cl, or H;
- T.sup.IV is selected from the group consisting of --CF.sub.3, --C.sub.2 F.sub.5, and --C.sub.3 F.sub.7 ; and
- v is a number such that the molecular weight ranges from 400 to 10,000;
- and
- T.sup.V --O--(CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O).sub.w --CF.sub.2 --, (f)
- where:
- T.sup.V is --CF.sub.3, or --C.sub.2 F.sub.5 ; and
- w is a number such that the molecular weight ranges from 400 to 10,000;
- such that at least one group of type (i) and at least one group of type (ii) are present in the phosphazene derivative molecule; and such that groups --R--Q, if linked to the same phosphorus atom, are capable of forming a cyclic structure with the following formula: ##STR22## wherein a perchlorophosphazene of formula:
- �Cl.sub.4 P!.sub.n --(N.dbd.PCl.sub.2).sub.m Cl.sub.n,
- where n and m are as defined above, is reacted with an aromatic compound of formula R--Q--H and a perfluoropolyether compound of formula:
- R.sub.f --CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.s --OH,
- where R, Q, and R.sub.f are as defined above, previously treated with a base.
- 6. The process of claim 5, wherein the base is an alkaline metal hydride.
- 7. The process of claim 5, wherein the perchlorophosphazene derivative is first reacted with the aromatic compound R--Q--H, previously treated with the base, in such amounts that the molar ratio of aromatic compound to perchlorophosphazene ranges from 2:1 to 5:1, and them with the perfluoropolyethereal compound:
- R.sub.f --CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.s --OH
- previously treated with base, in such amounts that the molar ratio of perfluoropolyethereal compound to perchlorophosphazene ranges from 2:1 to 5:1.
- 8. The process of claim 6, wherein the perchlorophosphazene derivative is first reacted with the aromatic compound R--Q--H, previously treated with the base, in such amounts that the molar ratio of aromatic compound to perchlorophosphazene ranges from 2:1 to 5:1, and them with the perfluoropolyethereal compound:
- R.sub.f --CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.s --OH
- previously treated with base, in such amounts that the molar ratio of perfluoropolyethereal compound to perchlorophosphazene ranges from 2:1 to 5:1.
