Claims
- 1. In combination, conglomerated small particles useful for providing an individualistic and readily identifiable indicia, said combination comprising:
- a. finely divided inorganic phosphor material which is excited by predetermined energy in order to produce readily detectable radiations;
- b. at least one finely divided stable other material which provides an individualistic characteristic that is readily identified once said other material has been located; and
- c. inorganic binder material intimately holding together said phosphor material and said other material as a plurality of small particles each comprising conglomerates of said finely divided phosphor material and said finely divided other material.
- 2. The combination as specified in claim 1, wherein said other material is readily identified by at least one of the procedures of emission spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence analysis, neutron irradiation and activation analysis, or distinctive fluorescent emission response.
- 3. The combination as specified in claim 2, wherein said distinctive fluorescent emission response comprises line emission fluorescent response.
- 4. In combination, small particles each comprising conglomerates of different finely divided phosphor materials which have substantially different fluorescent emissions, said combination comprising:
- a. a first finely divided inorganic phosphor material which is excited by predetermined energy in order to produce a predetermined emission of radiations;
- b. at least one finely divided second inorganic phosphor material which is excited by predetermined energy in order to produce a predetermined emission of radiations which is different from the emission of said first phosphor; and
- c. binder material intimately holding together said first phosphor material and said second phosphor material as a plurality of small particles each comprising conglomerates of said first finely divided phosphor material and said second finely divided phosphor material, and said binder material transmissive of said predetermined energies which excite said phosphor materials and transmissive of said emissions of said phosphor materials.
- 5. In combination, small individual particles which are readily detectable and provide individualistic and readily identifiable indicia of information, said particles comprising:
- a. inorganic phosphor material which is excited by predetermined energy to produce readily detectable radiations;
- b. at least one stable other material which provides individualistic information indicia that is readily identified once said other material has been located; and
- c. said small particles each comprising said inorganic phosphor material and said other material retained in intimate association, and the response of said phosphor material portion of said particles to excitation by said predetermined energy making said particles readily detectable.
- 6. The combination as specified in claim 5, wherein said other material is readily identified by at least one of the procedures of emission spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence analysis, neutron irradiation and activation analysis, or distinctive fluorescent emission response.
- 7. In combination, small individual particles which are dispersible throughout another material, such as explosive material or explosive agent, during its processing into a form suitable for use, said particles being readily detectable and providing individualistic and readily identifiable indicia of information, said particles each comprising:
- a. inorganic phosphor material which is excited by predetermined energy to produce readily detectable radiations;
- b. at least one stable other material which provides individualistic information indicia that is readily identified once said other material has been located;
- c. radiation-transmissive refractory inorganic binder material forming a part of each of said particles; and
- d. said small particles each comprising said inorganic phosphor material and said other material retained in intimate association by said binder material as dispersible individual particles, and the response of said phosphor material portion of said particles to excitation by said predetermined energy making said particles readily detectable.
- 8. The combination as specified in claim 7, wherein said other material is readily identified by at least one of the procedures of emission spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence analysis, neutron irradiation and activation analysis, or distinctive fluorescent emission response.
- 9. The combination as specified in claim 7, wherein said inorganic phosphor material which is excited by predetermined energy to produce readily detectable radiations is band-emitting phosphor material, and said other material comprises line-emitting phosphor material.
