Claims
- 1. A rare earth element activated stimulable complex halide phosphor represented by the formula:
- BaF.sub.2.aBaX.sub.2.bMgF.sub.2.dMe.sup.II F.sub.2 :fLn
- wherein X is at least one halogen selected from the group consisting of chlorine, bromine and iodine, Me.sup.II is at least one divalent metal selected from the group consisting of beryllium, calcium and strontium, Ln is at least one rare earth element selected from the group consisting of divalent europium (Eu.sup.2+), cerium (Ce.sup.3+) and terbium (Tb.sup.3+), and a, b, d and f are numbers satisfying the conditions of 0.90.ltoreq.a.ltoreq.1.05, 0.005.ltoreq.b.ltoreq.1.2, 0.ltoreq.d.ltoreq.1.2 and 10.sup.-6 .ltoreq.f.ltoreq.0.03, and further comprising at least one metal fluoride selected from the group consisting of cMe.sup.I F wherein Me.sup.I is at least one alkali metal selected from the group consisting of lithium and sodium, and c is a number satisfying the condition of 0.01.ltoreq.c.ltoreq.0.9, and eMe.sup.III F.sub.3, wherein M.sup.III is gallium, and e is a number satisfying the condition of 0.0005.ltoreq.e.ltoreq.0.03.
- 2. A rare earth element activated stimulable complex halide phosphor as defined in claim 1, wherein said a, b, c, d, e and f are 0.95.ltoreq.a.ltoreq.1.02, 0.005.ltoreq.b.ltoreq.0.2, 0.01.ltoreq.c.ltoreq.0.2, 0.001.ltoreq.d.ltoreq.0.1, 0.0005.ltoreq.e.ltoreq.0.01, and 10.sup.-4 .ltoreq.f.ltoreq.0.01, respectively.
