Claims
- 1. A particle of a finely-divided fluorescent lamp phosphor having a bi-layer coating comprising a coating of alumina surrounding a coating of silica which surrounds the particle.
- 2. A particle in accordance with claim 1 wherein the phosphor is a zinc silicate phosphor.
- 3. A particle in accordance with claim 1 wherein the phosphor is a calcium halophosphate phosphor.
- 4. A particle in accordance with claim 1 wherein the bi-layer coating has a thickness of greater than or equal to approximated 100 Angstroms.
- 5. Particles of a phosphor, each phosphor particle being surrounded by a nonparticulate bi-layer coating comprising a coating of alumina surrounding a coating of silica, said particles when incorporated into a fluorescent lamp having a higher brightness than a lamp incorporating alumina coated phosphor particles.
