Claims
- 1. A method for enhancing the flame retardant characteristics of a polymeric substrate which comprises adding to said polymeric substrate about 0.1% to 20% by weight of 2-chloroalkyl(2-chloroalkoxy)hydrocarbylphosphinylpropionate of the general formula ##STR4## where R is phenyl, methyl or ethyl, and R' is hydrogen or methyl.
- 2. A flame retardant composition comprising a normally flammable material selected from the group consisting of polyamides and polyesters, together with from about 0.1% to 20% by weight of 2-chloroalkyl(2-chloroalkoxy)hydrocarbylphosphinylpropionate of the general formula ##STR5## where R is phenyl, methyl or ethyl, and R' is hydrogen or methyl.
- 3. A flame retardant composition comprising polyethylene terephthalate together with from about 0.1 to 20 wt. % of 2-chloroethyl3-propionate.
- 4. A flame retardant composition comprising polyethylene terephthalate together with from about 0.1 to 20 wt. % of 2-chloroethyl 3-propionate.
