Claims
- 1. An apparatus for removing exposed photographic film from a cassette, said cassette including a spool provided with a retaining structure for retaining a trailer of said photographic film and a cassette shell having a spool chamber defined therein for containing said spool in a rotatable manner and a photographic film passage port extending between said spool chamber and an outside of said cassette, said photographic film removing apparatus comprising:
- holding means for holding said cassette shell in a predetermined orientation so as to position said passage port in a predetermined direction;
- drawing means for drawing said photographic film out of said cassette shell until said photographic film is substantially unwound so that one convolution of said film or less remains wound on said spool;
- a separator member for separating said trailer from said spool, said separator member being moveable through a path between an inserting position, where said separator member passes through said passage port and is close to said spool, and a standby position, where said separator member is removed from said passage port;
- means for moving said separator member to said inserting position after stopping of said drawing means and releasing said trailer from retention on said retaining structure while leaving said spool in said cassette shell;
- spool rotating means for rotating said spool and means for guiding said film in response to rotation of said spool in order to advance at least a portion of a leader of said photographic film through said passage port, wherein said separator member is arcuate and moves rotationally on a center of an arcuate shape of said separator member, and said moving means moves said separator member from said standby position to said inserting position and then back to said standby position.
- 2. A photographic film removing apparatus as defined in claim 1 wherein at least one retaining hole is formed in said trailer, said retaining structure comprising:
- a slot formed in said spool and extended in an axial direction of said spool for inserting said trailer;
- at least one retaining claw projecting from an inside surface of said slot so as to be fitted in said retaining hole; and
- at least one preventive projection, projecting from an inside surface of said slot in opposition to said retaining claw, for preventing said retaining hole from coming off of said retaining claw.
- 3. A photographic film removing apparatus as defined in claim 2, wherein a center of said slot does not coincide with a rotational axis of said spool.
- 4. A photographic film removing apparatus as defined in claim 2, wherein said separator member is provided with a releasing end portion which passes between said retaining claw and said trailer in order to release retention, and said releasing end portion spreads said slot so as to release said trailer from said retention when said separator member is in said insertion position.
- 5. A photographic film removing apparatus as defined in claim 4, wherein said releasing end portion has a raised portion for disengaging said retaining hole from said retaining claw by riding along said retaining claw.
- 6. A photographic film removing apparatus as defined in claim 4, wherein said separator member is provided with an opening for making said releasing end portion flexible.
- 7. A photographic film removing apparatus as defined in claim 4, wherein said releasing end portion has a projection for disengaging said retaining hole from said retaining claw by riding said retaining claw.
- 8. A photographic film removing apparatus as defined in claim 4, wherein said releasing end portion comprises:
- at least one groove; and
- a flap portion defined beside said groove for disengaging said retaining hole from said retaining claw by riding along said retaining claw.
- 9. A method of removing exposed photographic film from a cassette, said cassette including a spool provided with a retaining structure for retaining a trailer of said photographic film and a cassette shell having a spool chamber defined therein for containing said spool in a rotatable manner and a photographic film passage port extending between said spool chamber and an outside of said cassette shell, said photographic film removing method comprising:
- drawing said photographic film until said photographic film is substantially unwound so that one convolution of said film or less remains wound on said spool;
- passing a separator jig through said passage port into said cassette shell up to said spool, said separator jig being arcuate and rotatable about a point, rotation of said separator jig about said point causes said separator jig to move through said passage port;
- releasing said trailer from retention on said retaining structure by use of said separator jig; and
- drawing out said photographic film so as to separate said photographic film from said spool.
- 10. A photographic film removing method as defined in claim 9, wherein said cassette further includes a slot formed in said spool said slot extending in an axial direction of said spool for receiving said trailer, and said retaining structure is arranged inside said slot.
- holding means for holding said cassette shell in a predetermined orientation so as to position said passage port in a predetermined direction;
- drawing means for drawing said photographic film out of said cassette shell until said photographic film is substantially unwound so that one convolution of said film or less remains wound on said spool;
- a separator member for separating said trailer from said spool, said separator member being moveable through a path between an inserting position, where said separator member passes through said passage port and is close to said spool, and a standby position, where said separator member is removed from said passage port;
- means for moving said separator member to said inserting position after stopping of said drawing means and releasing said trailer from retention on said retaining structure while leaving said spool in said cassette shell;
- wherein said separator member is arcuate and moves rotationally on a center of an arcuate shape of said separator member.
