DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Several embodiments of Applicant's invention will now be described with reference to the drawings. Unless otherwise noted, like elements will be identified by identical numbers throughout all figures. The invention illustratively disclosed herein suitably may be practiced in the absence of any element which is not specifically disclosed herein.

Turning to FIG. 1, FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the unit in one embodiment. As shown, the unit 100 shows a pillow portion 102 coupled to a blanket portion 101. The coupling can be permanent such as sewing or an otherwise permanent attachment. Or the coupling can be temporary such as snaps, zipper, etc. A permanent attachment, as used herein, refers to an attachment which is intended to be permanent. A temporary attachment refers to an attachment which is meant to be coupled and decoupled-such as snaps, zippers, magnets, etc.

Whether it is permanent or temporary, the pillow portion 102 is coupled to the blanket portion 101. Virtually any type of blanket 101, of any material and any dimensions, can be utilized.

In one embodiment, an as shown, the pillow portion 102 has a first end and a second end. As shown, the pillow portion 102 is coupled at its first end of the blanket 101. The pillow portion 102 is used to house a pillow (105 in FIG. 6). The pillow can comprise virtually any type of pillow of any size and any dimension. As shown the pillow portion 102 comprises a narrow and elongated shape, and therefore, the contained pillow would likely be narrow and elongated. The shape and size of the pillow portion 102 can be adjusted depending upon the desired size of pillow. This is for illustrative purposes only and should not be deemed limiting.

As shown, the pillow portion 102 is coupled at one end to the blanket 101. As noted the coupling can comprise permanent or temporary coupling.

In one embodiment the pillow portion 102 and the blanket portion 101 comprise the same outer material. Thus, there is a smooth transition from the blanket 101 to the pillow portion 102. In other embodiments, however, the pillow portion 102 and blanket 101 comprise dissimilar external materials. The pillow portion 102 and/or the blanket 101 can comprise virtually any material which is utilized for blankets. These can include quilts, flannel, silk, cotton, bamboo, satin, fleece, etc.

While FIG. 1 shows the blanket 101 having a length approximately equal to the length of the pillow portion 102, this is for illustrative purposes only. In other embodiments the blanket 101 will be considerably longer than the pillow portion 102. In one embodiment the blanket 101 has the length of a full-length blanket. In other embodiments the blanket 101 has the length of a throw blanket. In one embodiment the blanket is 40″ by 50″ to about 60″ by 80″. In one embodiment the pillow size is between about 19-23 inches long and about 7-10 inches wide. These dimensions are for illustrative purposes only and should not be deemed limiting.

As noted, FIG. 1 shows one embodiment wherein one end of the pillow portion 102 is coupled to the blanket 101. Such embodiments can be excellent for users who are sleeping on a couch, in a bed, etc. Because the pillow portion 102 and blanket 101 are coupled, they can be used and stored as a single item.

Turning now to FIG. 2, FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the unit with two blankets in one embodiment. While it is said there are two blankets 101, the blanket or blankets 101 are coupled at each end of the pillow portion 102. Thus, as shown, the pillow portion 102 is coupled to a blanket 101 at both the first end and the second end. As shown, there are separate blankets 101, each attached to one end of the pillow portion 102. Such embodiments can be useful when traveling-flying, driving, etc. In other embodiments, the same single blanket 101 is attached to each end of the pillow portion 102. This unit 100 can likewise be used on a couch, bed, hammock, etc. FIG. 2 illustrates the versatility of the unit 100.

Turning now to FIG. 3, FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the unit in one embodiment. This embodiment illustrates that the unit 100 comprises a pocket 103. The pocket 103 can be located in the pillow portion 102, the blanket 101, or where the pillow portion 102 and blanket 101 join.

The pocket 103 can be used for a variety of purposes. In one embodiment a portion, or all, of the blanket 101 can be inserted into the pocket 103. In other embodiments an external item can be stored in the pocket 103. This could be a remote control, a phone, etc. The pocket 103 provides a safe and secure location to store an item.

In one embodiment the pocket 103 can be used to house a children's toy such as a stuffed animal. This allows the user, in a single item, to carry a blanket 101, a pillow 102, and a children's toy.

Turning now to FIG. 4, FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of the unit in one embodiment. In this figure the pillow insert 104 is shown. The pillow insert 104 is where the pillow can be inserted or removed from the pillow portion 102. This allows the pillow to be removed, for example, when the unit 100 is being washed. This also allows the user to replace or switch the pillow if they so desire. The pillow insert 104 can close via overlapping material, or it can close via buttons, zipper, etc.

As noted, in one embodiment, the pillow can be removed from the unit. This allows the pillow portion 102 and/or the blanket 101 to be washed as needed. If the pillow portion 102 is removably from the blanket 101, then one can be removed from the other and washed. This is a beneficial feature as it provides flexibility to the user.

FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the unit in one embodiment. The unit 100 illustrated in this embodiment is similar to that shown in FIG. 1. As shown, the pillow portion 102 and the blanket 101 comprise the same material. As noted, this is for illustrative purposes only and should not be deemed limiting.

As noted, the size of the blanket 101 can vary. The blanket 101 can comprise a throw blanket which is smaller, or a full size and full-length blanket. In some embodiments the unit is made for children so the blanket 101 is sized for a child.

In one embodiment the pillow portion 102 and the blanket 101 comprise an integrally made item. Thus, rather than the pillow portion 102 being separately coupled to the blanket 101, they comprise a single clothed element which is integrally made.

FIG. 6 is a perspective view of the unit in one embodiment. This embodiment shows a pillow 105 located within the pillow portion 102 of the unit. As noted, various types and shapes of pillows can be utilized. In the embodiment depicted a tubular foam pillow is shown. This is for illustrative purposes only and should not be deemed limiting.

FIG. 7 is a perspective view of the unit folded in one embodiment. As shown, one benefit, in some embodiments, is the ability to fold the blanket portion 101 in with the pillow portion 102. Thus, rather than simply have blankets folded and ready for use, there can be a combination pillow and blanket which is ready for use. This unit can be unfolded and used as both a pillow and a blanket.

The system described herein has several benefits. First, as noted, the user need only carry one item. Rather than have to separately carry a pillow and a blanket, the user need only carry one item. This is helpful as it reduces the need to look for each item separately.

Another benefit is that because the pillow and blanket are coupled, they are coupled during usage as well. The blanket cannot fall onto the floor, for example, when the user is using the pillow.

Another benefit is during travel. While travel pillows are available, they fail to include a blanket. This system allows a single item to be carried or packed while provides a pillow and a blanket, if desired.

Another benefit, in some embodiments, is the ability to store a portion or all of the blanket 101 within the pocket 103 of the pillow portion 102. This allows for easier handling, storing, etc. When the blanket 101 is stored within the pillow portion 102, this makes for a compact and easy-to-carry item.

While the invention has been particularly shown and described with reference to a preferred embodiment, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes in form and detail may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
