Claims
- 1. A pin guiding and damping element for floating-caliper spot-type disc brakes used in automotive vehicles, said element comprising a generally cylindrical elastic guiding and damping portion adapted to be seated in a bore formed in the brake, the guiding and damping portion being formed at one end with a first pleated bellows portion and at the other end with a second pleated bellows portion, said guiding and damping portion being provided with radially outwardly extending flange portions at its opposite ends, each of said first and second pleated bellows portions being attached to the radially outermost part of its associated flange portion, and a rolling diaphragm portion formed adjacent the end of the second pleated bellows portion opposite the guiding and damping portion, said rolling diaphragm portion having a widened mounting rib, said mounting rib coming into position under said second pleated bellows portion and adjacent one of said flange portions when said rolling diaphragm portion is in a fully retracted position.
- 2. A pin guiding and damping element according to claim 1 wherein a mounting part is formed at an end of said first pleated bellows portion opposite the guiding and damping portion.
- 3. A pin guiding and damping element according to claim 2 wherein the mounting part is held by a fastening ring.
- 4. A pin guiding and damping element according to claim 1 wherein a stop element is provided within the guiding and damping portion.
- 5. A pin guiding and damping element in accordance with claim 1 wherein at least one of said pleated bellows portions is attached to its associated flange portion so as to initially extend from its point of attachment in a substantially axial direction, said at least one of said pleated bellows portion at no point extending radially beyond its point of attachment.
- 6. A floating caliper spot-type disc brake assembly comprising a brake carrier and a brake housing slidably arranged relative thereto, a guiding sleeve having one end face bearing on said brake carrier and a screw extending through said guiding sleeve for clamping it to said brake carrier, said brake housing having an eye through which said guiding sleeve extends, a generally elastic cylindrical guiding and damping member seated on said guiding sleeve and received in said eye, said cylindrical guiding and damping member having a radially extending flange formed on each end so that each said flange is adjacent said eye, a first pleated bellows axially extending from one flange toward said brake carrier, a second pleated bellows axially extending from the other flange toward the free end of said guiding sleeve, both pleated bellows being attached to the radially outermost part of their respective flanges, the free end of said first bellows being formed with a mounting part having a portion thereof bearing on the outer surface of said guiding sleeve, the end of said second bellows opposite its associated flange being formed with a rolling diaphragm, the free end of the rolling diaphragm being formed with a widened mounting rib seated in a groove on the outer surface of said guiding sleeve, said mounting rib coming into position under said second bellows and adjacent one of said flange portions when said rolling diaphragm is in a fully retracted position.
- 7. An assembly in accordance with claim 6 wherein said cylindrical guiding and damping member includes stop means located between said flanges.
- 8. An assembly in accordance with claim 7 wherein said stop means is a rigid ring member on an inner periphery of said cylindrical guiding and damping member and includes circumferentially spaced means extending radially into complimentary radial bores in said guiding and damping member.
- 9. An assembly in accordance with claim 6 wherein said second pleated bellows is attached to said respective flange so as to initially extend from its point of attachment in a substantially axial direction, said second pleated bellows at no point extending radially beyond its point of attachment.
