Abstract
Disclosed is an optical filter having an electromagnetic shield capable of shielding unnecessary radiation of electromagnetic waves from a PDP, in which satisfactory reduction of undesired radiation is achieved even by employing a relatively low price optical filter. A plasma display apparatus of the invention includes: a conductive rear surface cover covering a rear surface of a plasma display panel; an optical filter provided with an conductive layer having a surface resistance of 0.5 Ω/square or above, which is disposed at the front surface of the plasma display panel and serves to reduce leakage of electromagnetic waves from the plasma display panel; optical filter protecting members electrically connected with the rear surface cover, for protecting/retaining the optical filter; and a conductive body having elasticity, which is interposed between the optical filter and the optical filter protecting member. A plurality of bosses are formed in the optical filter protecting members. A part of the elastic conductive body is compressed by the bosses and connection resistance with the elastic conductive body is reduced.

A plasma display apparatus, comprising: a plasma display panel;an optical filter provided with a conductive electromagnetic shield formed on a front surface of the plasma display panel;a conductive rear surface cover covering a rear surface of the plasma display panel;a plurality of bosses electrically connected to the rear surface cover; andan elastic conductive body having elasticity,
  • 2. The plasma display apparatus of claim 1 further comprises: an optical filter protecting member electrically connected with the rear surface cover, for protecting/retaining the optical filter,

A plasma display apparatus, comprising: a plasma display panel;an optical filter provided with a conductive electromagnetic shield formed on a front surface of the plasma display panel;a conductive rear surface cover covering a rear surface of the plasma display panel;a filter protecting member electrically connected with the rear surface cover, for protecting/retaining the optical filter; anda conductive body having elasticity,
  • 4. The plasma display apparatus of claim 3, wherein the electromagnetic shield has a surface resistance not lower than 0.5 Ω/square.
  • 5. The plasma display apparatus of claim 3, wherein the electromagnetic shield is a transparent conductive film type.
  • 6. The plasma display apparatus of claim 3, wherein the filter protecting member has a case shape to encompass the plasma display panel, and a plurality of the bosses are formed in each side of the filter protecting member.
  • 7. A plasma display apparatus, comprising: a plasma display panel;a conductive rear surface cover covering a rear surface of the plasma display panel;an optical filter provided with an conductive layer having a surface resistance of 0.5 Ω/square or above, which is disposed at the front surface of the plasma display panel and serves to reduce leakage of electromagnetic waves from the plasma display panel;optical filter protecting members electrically connected with the rear surface cover, for protecting/retaining the optical filter; anda conductive body having elasticity, which is interposed between the optical filter and the optical filter protecting member,
  • 8. The plasma display apparatus of claim 7, wherein a thickness of the conductive body before installation is about 3.0 mm, a gap between the conductive optical filter and the optical filter protecting member is about 2.0 mm, and a height of the boss is about 1.2 mm.
  • 9. The plasma display apparatus of claim 7, wherein the conductive body is a gasket.
  • 10. The plasma display apparatus of claim 7, wherein a ratio of compressibility of the conductive body compressed by the bosses of the optical filter protecting member and the optical filter to compressibility of the conductive body compressed by a portion where the bosses of the optical filter protecting member are not formed and the optical filter is 2.66 which is greater than 1.
  • 11. The plasma display apparatus of claim 7, wherein a ratio of a height of the boss to a thickness of the conductive body before installation is less than 0.5.
  • 12. The plasma display apparatus of claim 7, wherein the optical filter protecting member reduces leakage of electromagnetic waves at least from a peripheral portion of the optical filter.
