Claims
- 1. A web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form through which point-of-purchase items can be normally insertable comprising:
a first bag connected to at least a second bag at a tear line across the width of said first and said second bags, each said first bag and said second bag having an open ply and an attached ply, an insertion edge of said attached ply of said first bag adjacent said tear line and an insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag being at least partially separated from at least one of said open ply and said attached ply of said second bag, said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag being capable of extending to a position that is substantially flush with said tear line, at least one of said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag and said open ply of said second bag are at least partially folded away from said tear line; and a storage form for containing at least said first and second bags, said storage form including a supply roll and a dispensing rack, at least said first and second bags being wound around said supply roll, said supply roll having an axis and being positioned on said dispensing rack to rotate about said axis, said storage form having a structure which provides tension against the rotation of said supply roll about said axis and the dispensing of bags from said storage form, while allowing the rotation of said supply roll, when at least one of said first bag and said second bag is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 2. A web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form through which point-of-purchase items can be normally insertable comprising:
a first bag connected to at least a second bag at a tear line across the width of said first and said second bags, each said first bag and said second bag having an open ply and an attached ply, an insertion edge of said attached ply of said first bag adjacent said tear line and an insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag being at least partially separated from at least one of said open ply and said attached ply of said second bag, said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag being capable of extending to a position that is substantially flush with said tear line, at least one of said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag and said open ply of said second bag are at least partially folded away from said tear line; a storage form for containing at least said first and second bags, said storage form including a supply roll, a dispensing rack, and at least one core lock that engages said dispensing rack, said supply roll having an axis and being positioned on said core lock to rotate with said core lock about said axis; and at least said first and second bags being wound around said supply roll, said core lock providing tension against the dispensing of bags from the storage form by rotating on said dispensing rack with said supply roll about said axis of said supply roll when at least one of said bags is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 3. A web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form through which point-of-purchase items can be normally insertable comprising:
a first bag connected to at least a second bag at a tear line across the width of said first and said second bags, each said first bag and said second bag having an open ply and an attached ply, an insertion edge of said attached ply of said first bag adjacent said tear line and an insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag being at least partially separated from at least one of said open ply and said attached ply of said second bag, said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag being capable of extending to a position that is substantially flush with said tear line, at least one of said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag and said open ply of said second bag are at least partially folded away from said tear line; a storage form for containing at least said first and second bags, said storage form including a supply roll, a dispensing rack, and at least one core lock having a rolled inside surface, a plurality of ribs extending inwardly from said rolled inside surface and engaging said dispensing rack, said supply roll having an axis and being positioned on said core lock to rotate with said core lock about said axis; and at least said first and second bags being wound around said supply roll, said ribs of said core lock providing tension against the dispensing of bags from said storage form by rotating on said dispensing rack with said supply roll about said axis of said supply roll when at least one of said bags is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 4. A web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form through which point-of-purchase items can be normally insertable comprising:
a first bag connected to at least a second bag at a tear line across the width of said first and said second bags, each said first bag and said second bag having an open ply and an attached ply, an insertion edge of said attached ply of said first bag adjacent said tear line and an insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag being at least partially separated from at least one of said open ply and said attached ply of said second bag, said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag being capable of extending to a position that is substantially flush with said tear line, at least one of said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag and said open ply of said second bag at least partially folded away from said tear line; and a storage form for containing at least said first and second bags, said storage form including a supply roll and a ratcheting mechanism on said storage form, said supply roll having an axis, said ratcheting mechanism increasing the tension on said supply roll against the dispensing of bags from said storage form and allowing said roll to rotate about its axis when at least one of said bags is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 5. A web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form through which point-of-purchase items can be normally insertable comprising:
a first bag connected to at least a second bag at a tear line across the width of said first bag and said second bag, said first bag and said second bag each having an open ply and an attached ply, said open ply and said attached ply being sealed together at a sealing line at or about a seal end of said bag and having an insertion edge at the other end of said bag, said insertion edge of said attached ply of said first bag adjacent said tear line and said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag being at least partially separated from said open ply of said second bag, said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag being capable of extending to a position that is substantially flush with said tear line; at least one of said at least partially separated insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag and said open ply of said second bag at least partially folded away from said tear line; a storage form for containing at least said first and second bags, said storage form including a supply roll and a dispensing rack, at least said first and second bags being wound around said supply roll, said supply roll having an axis and being positioned on said dispensing rack to rotate about said axis, said storage form having a structure that provides tension against the rotation of said supply roll about said axis and the dispensing of bags from said storage form, while allowing the rotation of said supply roll when at least one of said first bag and said second bag is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 6. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 wherein said open ply of said second bag includes an excess portion extending from said sealing line and having an excess edge, said excess portion being capable of extending to a position in which said excess edge is substantially flush with said tear line, said excess edge being at least partially separated from said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag.
- 7. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 wherein said insertion edge of said open ply of said first bag forms a flap that defines an entry point into said first bag.
- 8. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 further comprising a visual indicator on one of said open ply and said attached ply of said first bag, said visual indicator denoting a place at about the center of said first bag that can be pulled to further open said open ply and said attached ply apart from each other as said first bag is being dispensed from said web of pre-opened bags.
- 9. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 further comprising a visual indicator line on at least one of said open ply and said attached ply of said first bag, said indicator line denoting a place on the first bag that can be pulled to further open said open ply and said attached ply apart from each other as said first bag is being dispensed from said web of pre-opened bags.
- 10. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 further comprising a visual tape indicator on at least one of said open ply and said attached ply of said first bag, said tape indicator denoting a place on said first bag that can be pulled to further open said open ply and said attached ply apart from each other as said first bag is being dispensed from said web of pre-opened bags.
- 11. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 in which said open ply of said first bag has a first color and said attached ply of said first bag has a second color that is different than said first color, wherein the said first and second colors together denote a place on said first bag that can be pulled to further open said open ply and said attached ply apart from each other as said first bag is being dispensed from said web of pre-opened bags.
- 12. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 further comprising a vent on at least one of said open ply and said attached ply, said vent allowing for the evacuation of air from between said open ply and said attached ply during the manufacturing of said web of pre-opened bags.
- 13. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 wherein said open ply and said attached ply are each constructed of plastic film layers having thicknesses of between about 0.0003 inches to about 0.0015 inches.
- 14. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 wherein each said first bag and said second bag has a dimension between about 8″w×1041 h and about 16″w×24″h.
- 15. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 wherein each said first bag and said second bag has a dimension between about 10″w×14″h and about 12″w×20″h.
- 16. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 wherein said storage form includes a locking device to provide tension against the rotation of said supply roll about said axis.
- 17. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 wherein said storage form includes a core lock to provide tension against the rotation of said supply roll about said axis.
- 18. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 wherein said storage form includes a core lock having a rolled inside surface, a plurality of ribs extending inwardly from said rolled inside surface and engaging said dispensing rack, said supply roll having an axis and being positioned on said core lock to rotate with said core lock about said axis; said ribs of said core lock providing tension against the dispensing of bags from said storage form by rotating on said dispensing rack with said supply roll about said axis when at least one of said bags is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 19. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 wherein said storage form includes a ratcheting mechanism to provide tension against the rotation of said supply roll about said axis.
- 20. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 wherein said first and second bags each comprise a high density polyethylene material.
- 21. The web of pre-opened bags contained on a storage form of claim 5 wherein said first and second bags each comprise a low density polyethylene material.
- 22. A storage form for containing a web of pre-opened bags through which point-of-purchase items are insertable comprising:
a web of pre-opened bags, each of said bags being connected to at least one additional bag at a tear line, each of said bags having an open ply and an attached ply; each said open ply and said attached ply having an insertion edge; and said storage form being capable of allowing at least one of said bags to be pulled to produce tension to at least partially draw the insertion edge of an open ply away from an insertion edge of an attached ply to define an entry into the bag that is being pulled before the bag that is being pulled breaks off from the web of pre-opened bags.
- 23. The storage form of claim 22 further comprising a ratcheting mechanism for increasing the tension against the dispensing of bags from said storage form when at least one of said bags is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 24. The storage form of claim 22 wherein said web of pre-opened bags is wound around a supply roll and said storage form includes a locking device on said supply roll for increasing the tension against the dispensing of bags from said storage form when at least one of said bags is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 25. The storage form of claim 22 wherein said web of pre-opened bags is wound around a supply roll that is tightly mounted on said storage form to increase the tension against the dispensing of bags from said storage form when at least one of said bags is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 26. The storage form of claim 22 further comprising a supply roll on which said web of pre-opened bags is wound, a dispensing rack, and at least one core lock that engages said dispensing rack, said supply roll having an axis and being positioned on said core lock to rotate with said core lock about said axis, said core lock providing tension against the dispensing of bags from the storage form by rotating on said dispensing rack with said supply roll about said axis of said supply roll when at least one of said bags is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 27. The storage form of claim 22 further comprising a supply roll on which said web of pre-opened bags is wound, a dispensing rack, and at least one core lock having a rolled inside surface, a plurality of ribs extending inwardly from said rolled inside surface and engaging said dispensing rack, said supply roll having an axis and being positioned on said core lock to rotate with said core lock about said axis, said core lock providing tension against the dispensing of bags from said storage form by rotating on said dispensing rack with said supply roll about said axis when at least one of said bags is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 28. A storage form for containing a web of pre-opened bags through which point-of-purchase items are insertable comprising:
a web of pre-opened bags, each of said bags being connected to at least one additional bag at a tear line, each of said bags having an open ply and an attached ply; each said open ply and said attached ply having an insertion edge that is capable of extending to a position that is substantially flush with said tear line; and said storage form being capable of increasing the tension against the dispensing of bags from said storage form when at least one of said bags is pulled to further move the insertion edge of its open ply away from being flush with said tear line to further open one of said bags as said bag is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 29. The storage form of claim 28 further comprising a ratcheting mechanism for increasing the tension against the dispensing of bags from said storage form when at least one of said bags is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 30. The storage form of claim 28 wherein said web of pre-opened bags is wound around a supply roll and said storage form includes a locking device on said supply roll for increasing the tension against the dispensing of bags from said storage form when at least one of said bags is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 31. The storage form of claim 28 wherein said web of pre-opened bags is wound around a supply roll that is tightly mounted on said storage form to increase the tension against the dispensing of bags from said storage form when at least one of said bags is pulled as it is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 32. The storage form of claim 28 further comprising a supply roll on which said web of pre-opened bags is wound, a dispensing rack, and at least one core lock that engages said dispensing rack, said supply roll having an axis and being positioned on said core lock to rotate with said core lock about said axis, said core lock providing tension against the dispensing of bags from the storage form by rotating on said dispensing rack with said supply roll about said axis of said supply roll when at least one of said bags is being dispensed from said storage form.
- 33. The storage form of claim 28 further comprising a supply roll on which said web of pre-opened bags is wound, a dispensing rack, and at least one core lock having a rolled inside surface, a plurality of ribs extending inwardly from said rolled inside surface and engaging said dispensing rack, said supply roll having an axis and being positioned on said core lock to rotate with said core lock about said axis, said core lock providing tension against the dispensing of bags from said storage form by rotating on said dispensing rack with said supply roll about said axis when at least one of said bags is being dispensed from said storage form.
