- 6. The invention of claim 2 wherein the at least one splined insert is glued to at least one of said first and second collar portions.
- 7. The invention of claim 1 further comprising at least one clamp, wherein said at least one clamp secures at least one of said first and second collar portions to said driveshaft.
- 8. A boot for a driveshaft, wherein said driveshaft comprises first and second members each having splined portions, said second member being telescopically resident within said first member, said splined portion of said first member cooperating with said splined portion of said second member thereby allowing said first and second members to cooperatively form the driveshaft, said boot comprising:
a boot portion having annular folds and first and second opposite ends; and first and second collar portions adjoining said boot portion at said first and second opposite ends of said boot portion, wherein at least one of said first and second collar portions has a splined portion adapted to cooperate with the splined portion of one of said first and second members.
- 9. The invention of claim 8 wherein the splined portion of the at least one of said first and second collar portions comprises at least one splined insert at least partially within at least one of said first and second collar portions.
- 10. The invention of claim 9 wherein the at least one splined inset is plastic.
- 11. The invention of claim 8 wherein the boot portion is plastic.
- 12. The invention of claim 9 wherein the at least one splined insert is glued to least one of said first and second collar portions.
- 13. The invention of claim 8 further comprising at least one clamp, wherein said at least one clamp secures at least one of said first and second collar portions to said driveshaft.
- 14. A method of attaching a boot to a driveshaft comprising:
providing a splined driveshaft comprising first and second members each having splined portions, said second member being telescopically resident within said first member, said splined portion of said first member cooperating with said splined portion of said second member thereby allowing said first and second members to cooperatively form the driveshaft; providing a boot comprising a boot portion having annular folds and first and second opposite ends, and first and second collar portions adjoining said boot portion at said first and second opposite ends of said boot portion, wherein at least one of said first and second collar portions has a splined portion; sliding said boot over at least a part of said first and second members, wherein the splined portion of the at least one of said first and second collar portions cooperates with the splined portion of at least one of said first and second members; and securing said first and second collar portions to the respective first and second members of said driveshaft.
- 15. The invention of claim 14 wherein at least one of said first and second collar portions is secured to one of said first and second members of said driveshaft utilizing a clamp.
- 16. The invention of claim 14 wherein the splined portion of the at least one of said first and second collar portions comprises at least one splined insert at least partially within at least one of said first and second collar portions.
- 17. The invention of claim 16 wherein the at least one splined inset is plastic.
- 18. The invention of claim 14 wherein the boot portion is plastic.
