Claims
- 1. A play device designed to be struck by a racket, paddle or like devices, comprising a tail portion, which consists of strands of material which are combined to produce a curved bell shaped mesh. The curved bell shape, having an enlarged circular base; the diameter to which constricts, as it extends upwards toward it's topmost portion where it is connected to the head, or striking portion. The constriction of the diameter of the tail portion; along the length of the curved bell shape; from the head portion to the base of the tail is defined by a parabolic arc. whereby the parabolic arc formed by the length of the tail portion around it's circumference, increases the impact strength of the tail portion of a play device.
- 2. The play device as described in claim 1 where-in the strands of material used to form the curved bell shaped tail portion of a play device; consist of strands of fibers which are combined with a polymer to produce a semi-rigid composite structure. The expanded base of said structure having a “tail ring” for strengthening and unifying the ends of the strands used to produce the tail portion of a play device.
- 3. The play device as described in claim 1 where-in the strands of material used to form the curved bell shaped tail portion of a play device, consist of injection molded plastic.
- 4. The play device as described in claim 1 where-in the strands of material used to form the curved bell shaped tail portion of a play device, consist of compression molded plastic.
- 5. The play device according to claim 1, where the surface of the tail portion is formed so as to be deflected by air and cause the play device, to spin while in flight, along the axis which is parallel to it's flight.
- 6. A play device designed to be struck with different parts of the human anatomy. The device having a striking portion which is composed of a foam material and formed into a substantially hollow, substantially round head, which is affixed to a tail portion; which consists of strands of material which are combined to produce a curved bell shaped mesh; the length of which is defined by a parabolic arc. The parabolic arc formed along the length of the tail portion facilitating an increase in the impact strength of a tail portion of the play device.
- 7. A play device according to claim 6 where the tail portion's height is approximately equal to its greatest width, with the most constricted circumference of the tail portion of the play device being approximately half the diameter, of the most expanded portion of the play device. The weight of the head portion being approximately twice that of the tail portion.
- 8. The play device as described in claim 6 where-in the strands of material used to form the tail portion of a play device, consist of strands of fibers which are combined with a polymer to produce a semi-rigid composite structure. The expanded base of said structure having a “tail ring” which consists of a polymer, which unifies and connects the ends of the strands used to produce the tail portion of a play device.
- 9. The play device as described in claim 6 where-in the strands of material used to form the tail portion of a play device consist of injection molded plastic.
- 10. The play device as described in claim 6 where-in the strands of material used to form the tail portion of a play device consist of compression molded plastic.
- 11. The play device according to claim 6, wherein the head is formed from an inflatable material or an inflatable bladder is located within a foam cap.
- 12. A play device according to claim 6 where-in the tail portion of the play device consists of several sections which are substantially disjointed along the length of the tail portion.
- 13. A play device designed to struck by any part of the human anatomy, with the intention of landing the devise upon a player's head, or sustaining the flight of the device, by oneself or with other players. The shape of the device being substantially conical leaving it with a limited ability to roll along the ground, the device having a soft foam head attached to a tail portion whose height is approximately equal to its maximum width.
- 14. A means by which the tail portion of the play devices described in claims 1, 6 and 14 may be produced by applying a polymer impregnated fabric to a substantially conical form, which gathers and retains a tubular fabric from its disposed location around the external circumference of a tube.
